This is my first thread, and would like to say this site is VERY highly regarded as a source of sound information in the area of building custom and 1 off turbo pieces and putting together custom kits. So here is why I'm here, I am planning on running a turbo on my 87 honda accord, it has the honda A20a3 motor, which is a 2.0 liter fuel injected engine. I would like to know if any one has this generation of car, and if you do, did you build your manifold from scratch, or have someone build it for you?... Are the power gains from a turbo in general worth having to drop more money than the car is technically worth into the engine?

heck ya it's worth boostin. ask accordepicenter his car had a stock a20 with 13psi that freakin hauled. and 13.5 on streets with crappy launchs. they are a good motor to boost cast block it will take a lot of boost. and ya your lookin at making your own mani I don't know of anybody that makes them right now you can get the flanges from wiertech I think. pretty cheap too. good luck with the engine management though. I think jay ran a afc hack for a while it works ok. but in the end he went obd1 good luck with the project

be nice to the kid man lol. Most of what i wanted to say has been said already. Yes its worth it to boost your motor . For a turbo manifold, get a cheap b series turbo manifold, cut off the head flange , cut the flange from your stock header and have some one weld it up to the turbo manifold for you . Building a good boosted motor isnt exactly cheap if you want some thing that wont blow on your first pull. Happy boosting newb

Ok... I like the B series manifold Idea, I thought about that for a second, but didnt know for sure.... now I do...

 

or just use the header and run a J pipe to make some sort of top mount. Pm mad max for pics of what im talking about. it would be cheaper and less of a head ache assuming you have room in your engine bay and its not sooo cramped.

 

I don't think the b series header woudl work the a20 ports are not like b and d's they are off set like this 0 00 0 if that makes sense

 

ok . It was only an idea , not to familiar with honda exhaust manifolds. We did use a bseries log mani on a toyota 4age 20v using the same method i mentioned earlier. Came out pretty good. The "sink trap" type manifold would be your next cheapest and easiest option.
