Default 8.3:1 compression ratio...

Is this going to be way too low of a compression ratio to run a car at idle?

It appears as though this is what I will be dealing with unless I mill the head down .030". Then I will get to around 8.7:1. The only problem then is that I will have to deal with cam gears and dialing those in. Luckily I shouldn't have a problem with valve into piston clearance.

No no... 8.3:1 will be fine. Just make sure your low end timing is advancing, to compensate.

Yeah exactly what Chacko said. 8.3:1 is good. We use to run 7.7:1 in our race car. Ran like a champ. Whole lotta boost! And don't mill the head. That turns into a pain in the ying yang.

thats a great c/r for boost... a lot of 80's scoobies used 7.xx:1 c/r... same w/ the 1st gen DSM (eclipse)

granted you'll get more power from the same boost w/ higher c/r... but you're at a lot higher risk of detonation w/ higher c/r
