I had a good 42/48 off a volvo
I put the compressor housing off the thunderbird turbo, onto the volvo turbo.
I had to grind 1mm off the center section so the smaller lip of the 60 compressor would sit flush when tightened.
Project cheap **** was my car, and I sold it to snabfxu123 were it is still running today.
I even boosted it without grinding it down and it was fine, but I could wiggle the comp. housing 1mm before I ground the center section down.

Thats my writeup.

when i swapped my .42 .48 coldside over to a .60, everyone said that i had to use the .60 backing plate, wheel, and housing. well, the backing plate ended up bein the same, and the .60 when WAS bigger than the .42

so you basicly what you want is the smallest turbo you can get that will hold the amount of boost you are looking to boost so lets say turbo .A. can boost 15 lbs, and turbo .B. can boost 12 lbs, and turbo .C. can boost 8 lbs, and you are trying to run 10 psi. u dont want turbo .C. becouse it cant make the boost you want. but you dont want turbo .A. becouse to much lag. and turbo .B. is your winner ? am i thinking rite

No. You can boost however much you want on a given turbo, but some of them will run out of air way early (the small ones). Turbo A, B, and C, will all hold 10psi, but the biggest one will pull harder and make more power at 10psi, and the smallest one at 10psi will make the least amount of horsepower, and feel like a nice N/A car.

Of course you have efficiency's and all that ---- too, but in general, the bigger one is gonna kick you in the *** more at the same psi.
