I opted for the 48AR because I like the torque feel in the low gears. I don't want the 63AR right now because my motor is not built nor is it stroked to 2.2+ liters. My restrictive LS head and intake won't really push the 63AR like a Vtec motor would.

I am just trying to perfectly match this turbo to my motor, unlike many who just slap on a generic T3/T4 and just use the specs 57trim stage III 63AR because that's what everyone else uses.

Sounds like your .48 is working well then. Personally with the higher reving vtec engines, I have always found I liked larger AR housings on them .63's feel pretty decent. I'd really like to get the PT SC61 on my crvtec, Todd makes me jealous everytime he mentions his sc61 :P

Do they have a "little" SC61 for my D16Z6?

HOLY ---- i think i've found a twin brother. lol U have the same setup/feelings i do about this.

Why not do this. Buy a .60/.48 T3 turbo AND a .60/.63 turbo. Put them on your D16Z6. And then let me know what difference.

HMM wait. That's what im doing, ill let u guys know in 2 weeks

Personally, I will be racing on strictly street tires. With the extra lag I belive that the .63 will allow me to hook FAR better.

Remember "Thank the lag for the traction and the snail for the action"

AND after pondering that

"burnouts turn heads, but traction gets you to the finish line"

Street tires are hopeless for perfect traction. I personally prefer slicks over any nitto or falken. You want a hole shot like a bat out of hell that way (once again) the other guy is trying to play catch up and usually doesn't until the race is over.

Street racing is cute and fun, but is a poor representation of power. Dammit I will find a way to gain traction with some sticky street tires so once I get to the track, the slicks will just make me even faster.

This AR discussion is really about traction. I bet if you could get traction with the smaller AR you would be alot quicker and would never have to play catch up.

Of course if you could get traction w/ a smaller AR ur car would definately haul ***. you'll have the launch and the power to pull you the rest of the way.

But if your on street tires (the only way ill be racing on the drag strip) im a firm believer in lag w/the .63.

I may be wrong. Ill c in 2 weeks though im putting the turbo on this week and then after i've got it tuned with the .48 turbo, im gonna swap to the .63 to see the difference
