31x12 intercooler on a crx possible?
 

I wtb a 31x12x3 intercooler for my rex, but i don't know if it's possible to make it fit with the stock bumper, because i made some measurements to my car and didn't seems to be possible, the IC seems to be to tall for it.

No, didn't need it, but are very cheap on ebay those 31x12x3 intercoolers, as low as $130 shipped, and for shure that IG gives a very agressive looking for a rex.

I got the 31x3x9 for $116 shipped its plenty big and it should fit fine on my crx :6

I got my 30X12X3 to fit no problem, I had to cut probably close to 1/2 of the bumper support right out though

a 6" can fit without any hacking though, and I doubt youll be making enough power to overflow the efficiency of the JRC 6" anyways, so Id just go with that, will fill up the grill nicely

i got my 30x12x3 hks race fmic for 75 bucks, on my accord and i was told it woulnd fit so ftw and mount that bitch up

bahh i just went and looked mines 28"x9"x3" its plents big i would never run a 31x12x3 on a EF :3

well it's obviously not a crx, but this is a JRC 31x3x8 in my 5th gen civic, and you can see how much material I had to remove of the bumper support to make it all work sooo.....

in that pic i have 205/50/15s right to the edge of the fender well. the intercooler doesnt hang any lower than the oil pan and my DP is lower than my pan by like half an inch or so. i cut all but the top flap part off my bumper support. you cant see about 5 inches of the intercooler haha

Here's a pic of my crx with a 33x11x3, 24 inch core. There's about and inch or so above the intercooler so I would imagine that a 12 inch tall intercooler would be do able.

I have the same fmic...'04 evo8 on mine...mine's tilted towards the back and I had to remove the bumper support to fit it in. Just cut the inside lip of the bumper out and made an angled piece of aluminum to deflect air onto the top of the IC.Attachment 29690

The crx is obviously one of the worst cars as far as crash ratings, but I guess I'd be more worried about weakening the front end. Does the removat of all this material make a large difference in rigidity? I realize the front crossmember is down below, but there's minimal material tying the top portion together. (hood latch crossbar)

Anyone notice unwanted flexing when the bumper support was removed?

European hondas don't have bumber supports like US hondas,
and they drive faster here so the support dont do much. look at it like this you intercooler is your new support, plus it covers more area than the original support

ya im pretty sure that the bumper support is one of those dumbass usdm things that slows are ------- hondas down.... i havent noticed any difference and if your worried about it get a strut bar for the front, that would help stiffen it up. but the crossmember is still there on the crx's
