3" or 2.5" intercooler piping

Just wondering what will work better for my IC piping. I know the norm is 2.5", but will 3" be too big?

It's probably not going to give you a gigantic horsepower increase. I would think it would be better to match it to the throttle body and the intercooler. :-\

I wasn't really looking for any increases. I can get good deals on 3" aluminum so its more of a money thing. I was worried that 3" would be worse. Thats all.

Also, Dr. Boost. I pm'ed you about some of your stuff for sale

I'm not exactly sure how that would affect the boost, but I'm sure you couldn't tell a difference. I think 2.5" is just the common size most people use.

unless you are over 400whp...3" is by far...WAY TO ------- BIG!

it's just like running to large of exhaust on an N/A car.

you loose velocity while trying to gain volume movement.

go with 2.5" and no larger.

kvh, even 2.5 is too big, I'd say 2.25 at the MOST.

2" is your best bet. easiest to find couplers for and a little cheaper and easier to use. i know a guy down here w/ a drag hatch and he only uses 2.5" piping and he's making 600whp. remember, the bigger the piping, the more volume the piping holds. the turbo has to fill all that piping w/ air, so the larger the piping the more it will lag (being the turbo stays the same).

Have any of you actually felt the difference between 2", 2.5" and 3"? :-\

Are you talking about penises? ;) Don't lie to me. I have not, personally felt the differance in the piping, but 2" IS way easier to find couplers for (and cheaper), and the volume capacity is true. *nods* - Matt
