Default 270hp to 300hp goal, t3 super 60 or t3t4 46trim?

Whats up. Did alot of searching but there almost no topics on this t3/t4 46 trim turbos. I am planning on putting a kit together next year for my daily driver lsvtec civic. I want something quick spooling and have sorta a nice top end only looking for 270 to 300hp. I am all in favor with a t3 super 60 with .63 ar. But what about 46 trim t3/t4 will do compared to the super 60? :1

A true super 60 is hard to find. 3 out 4 people selling them (in my experience) incorrectly advertise t3 60 trims as "super 60s".
There was one vendor on ebay who is especially bad about it and he knows damn well he's not selling super 60s.

The only way to ID a super 60 is to measure the inducer with a digital caliper, it's a very small change over the 60 trim.
Otherwise buy it from a reputable vendor.

Consider the t3 60 trim as an alternative, it'll ususally be significantly less expensive than a true super 60 and will perform almost as well.. Have a look at the compressor maps.

What pressure ratio (PSI) do you expect to get your peak power? That'll help determine what turbo will work best for your Civic.

I have only seen one dyno sheet of the true Turbonetics super 60 trim with a .63ar exhaust housing. It was used on a stock gsr motor and it made around 290hp at only 10 psi with a log manifold. The turbo spooled insanely fast. The motor also made around 210ftlbs of torque around 3500rpm . I saw this dyno graph one Jeff Evans website. To that note if someone has a dyno graph of a 46trim t3t4 turbo on a b18 motor I will like to see it (cant find one anywhere). thanks for the replies.

edit here is the link to that dyno sheet http://forums.evans-tuning.com/viewt...ighlight=super

T3/T04B 'S' Trim flows a hair more than both and probably cheaper because they're really big T4 turbo's from diesels with a .63 stage 1 turbine housing. If you're buying new I wouldn't recommend the T04B simply because it's not a true eh, 'preformance' turbo I guess. Just a big compressor mounted to a T3 turbine. I was able to get mine together fairly cheap as I just bough the compressor side and swapped it to my .63 T3 and had Blaast rebuild it for me (thank you ). When you look at these turbos new they all hit 'around' the same price so the T04E would be a better choice; however, the 46 trim flows the least amount out of all 3 of these choices. What's holding you back from a BIGGER T04E?

BTW, a super 60 is easy to identify: it's gonna be a turbonetics turbo. Garrett doesn't make the super 60.

the t3 60 trim (or super 60) are too small for 300 HP. At 300 HP, they'll be maxed out so you are sure to have a torque drop and lots of overheating at high revs.

Yes, small t4 compressors like t04e46 and t04b s and 54 trim are appropriate for 300 HP. They are maxed out at around 350 hp so at 300 HP, they'll be as happy as you.

for a low boost setup, I'd recommend the t04e46 trim because it's available in 0.70 a/r, which is a better appropriate compressor a/r to exploit a compressor wheel at low boost.

turbine wise, for 300 HP, 0.63 a/r would work ok, but i would try a ported 0.48 /ar turbine with stage 1½ wheel for a faster reponse and still enough flow to meet the 300 hp.

so what are the advantages of porting a .48? does it make it flow somewhere between .48 and .63? also wtf is a 1 1/2 stage wheel?

i love the "i want a fast spool with good top end" comment, you cant have both.

its like tring to find a bitch that likes it in the *** and the puss. its one or the other

exactly, considering the amounts of material that i remove from the bottleneck of a .48 a/r turbine, it's deifintely no longer a 0.48 a/r and somewhere between .48 and .63.
since the stock .48 a/r turbine is able (but maxed out) to do 300hp, Maybe just that with a stage 1 wheel could do the trick (and would be cheaper too.)
