Cant believe i just caught this thread. I gotta agree, im impressed you made it this far. Cheap wideband ftw! The air to water intercooler has got to go though lol My frist setup i used a sidemount with a hood scoop just above it and it worked great!

I dont know why everyone is hatin on the water-air intercooler, ive had no problems with it, and no matter how i run my car, it feels like air temperature when i touch it, it gets heat soak only after the engine is off and water isnt being pumped for around 10 minutes, then its pretty warm.

Mostly because it is complex and unnecessary. He was just trying to show you that an air-air can work in tight spots. Just think about what will happen if that thing leaks fluid into the intake. It's your car and you can do what you want.

that is true, i picked the intercooler itself up for $60 shipped, cheaper than any fmic ive seen on ebay, i had a smic, and was going to put it where my current intercooler heat exchanger is but it would be another $40 just for the couplers and clamps, plus the IC piping. the only IC piping i have is a 4 inch piece so my bov has a place to chill.

risking the IC breaking and leaking coolant into my intake is a risk, but at only 5 psi right now, while the IC is rated up to 70 psi, and the total setup for the intercooler was around $100
60 for ic
20 for pump
15 for heat exchanger
5 for hose.

where as FMIC, is around 100 base price for the IC
40 for 5 couplers <<<- this is a LOW estimate
40 for the IC piping,

and having to take off bumper and cut it adn mount it, have my power steering ring and radiator subjected to hotter air than they should be,

everyone perfers somethign different, and yeah i personally think a FMIC looks magnificant, but i didnt have that much money and ive read some bad things about smic pressure drop... and the efficancy i have with the distance having to travel from turbo to throttle body is great.

its a risk i personally am willing to take,

okay so for anyone who has read the entire thread, i think it was on this one, lol i raced that LS1 trans am last night and held my own!! at 7 psi. he was scared and wanted to go from dig because im fwd.... i actually had him on one of the 2 takeoffs, and he couldnt get into 2nd either time... an off duty cop saw us and chased/ reported us, and when we realized what was happening, we got back onto the main highway and gunned it, and he started about 50 yards in front of me, and the distance between us didnt change at all until around 120mph when i got boost in 5th gear i pretty much passed him like he was standing still but later he said he shifted into 6th to cruise... either way he and I were both impressed by the power my car put out, i ended up getting pulled over in a neighborhood after getting massive radar alerts and i made an illigal u turn or some bullshit.... i only got a warning and said i didnt know what he was talking about racing... lol oh and before you yell at me about street racing, trust me, only us 2 drivers lives were in danger and the truck that chased us to get our plates was being WAY more dangerous...

at 7 psi, my air fuel ratio narrow band gauge says im running rich even at 6000 rpms, and yes its hooked up right, xD no glitch, this is with the fuel curves modded. im honestly suprised they are holding up this good, my car seemed stock when i bought it..... i have a few exhaust leaks in my welds but other than that it seems to be awesome.
