Default 2002 1.7L SOHC Vtech

Hi, i'm new to the site and i have a few questions about options for my car.

i own a 2002 honda civic si, but it has the 1.7L SOHC Vtech and i don't want to do an engine swap because my car has very low milage on it. as well i might be looking at getting a new engine from honda because of some warranty work.

What, if anything, are my options on this... and does anyone happen to know my engine code? i can't seem to find it anywhere.. only thing i can find is the K20a3, and im not sure if that's the American engine or not.

D17A1 1.7 16V SOHC PGM-FI 1668 115hp@6100rpm 110tq@4500rpm '01-'02 Civic DX/LX (USA)
D17A2 1.7 16V SOHC VTEC-II PGM-FI 1668 127hp@6300rpm 114tq@4800rpm '01-'02 Civic EX (USA)
K20A3 2.0 16V DOHC i-VTEC PGM-FI 1998 160hp@6600rpm 132tq@5000rpm '01-'02 RSX (USA)
'02 Civic Si (USA)

Those are the three engine codes it could be. If you're driving an SI it is not a 1.7L SOHC engine, its a 2.0 liter engine, DOHC if I'm not mistaken.

If your car is still under warrenty I wouldn't *personally* mess with the drive train due to possible a possible void of the warrenty. If you're looking at getting the engine replaced/rebuilt/etc by Honda under warrenty conditions I would definately not mod it at all till you get that settled. If they pop your hood and see a turbo kit under there, they'll laugh their *** off as their wheeling it out of the service center untouched.

However if you are looking to turbo it, then you're also in the market for spending a little extra dough than any of us here. The K series is new, so its going to cost the most. With the K being so new, it doesn't currently have the aftermarket support that the D and B series do. That's not to say there isn't any aftermarket, it's just well expensive. Not to mention I think Kpro is about the only way to 'tune' the K series engines now...

Check the Honda-Tech sponsors section for sponsors that make turbo items for the Kseries, that's your best bet.

In answer to the picture question.. it's Number 2.. but it is listed as an SiG.

Yeah, i won't be doing any turbo work to it until all the warranty has run up. My car is currently at honda being looked at because of misfiring cylinders.. and no one there knows what it is.. so they sent all my data away to toronto. i live in canada, but

D17A2 1.7 16V SOHC VTEC-II PGM-FI 1668 127hp@6300rpm 114tq@4800rpm '01-'02 Civic EX (USA) that you posted.

must be the engine that i have.Is it even worth adding a turbo to this engine, and if so about how much would it cost for a custom one.. seeing as i can't find any pre built ones anyways.

lol, I thought the guy was lying, but there is a Civic SIG, just not a US model.

For future reference aaron... 01+ Civic Si and Civic SiG are not the same by any means. (at least as far as I'm concerned)

if you need to bring it to the dealer for a misfire i would even dare attempt boosting it by yourself. for obvious reasons.

hey, i got my car back earlier today.. it was just my ECU that was messed up, so i have a new one now. honda is going to install a knock sensor just to make sure that's all that is wrong, but it runs great as of now.

just use it as transportation and resist all go fast urges. If you want a project car. Get something alittle older.

People are boosting D17s mainly using Greddy Emanage or similar.I posted some links to sites/forums with info on boosting the D17 a little while back.Do a search and you will find it.
