Default 2.5" or 3" exhaust

So I have 2.25" exhaust right now and it is this really thick *** mild steel that I tried to do some whitey bends with and it just didn't work out. Like seriously, this ---- is extremely thick and im sure it weighs atleast 50lbs if not more for the full exhuast. So im going to be ordering some mandrel bends and doing it all myself but yeah I'm only going to be lookin at 200ish whp right now but i'd like room to upgrade to like 300whp

this time im going to stick a muffler on it tho for whatever size i go with ...

oh yeah i ran my exhuast under my gas tank and it is starting to scrape and ---- so that is the main reason for the redo of the exhaust. Going to route it the orignal way but bigger.

so would 3" be over kill on 200whp and 300whp?
or should I just do 2.5" and call it a day?

that is what im thinking

right now

i have this like 24" resnator and then the stock like 8" one on there and then a rice can.

I think that 3" straight with none of that other ---- + a decent high flow muffler would be quiter than what it is right now.

it depends on how much the turbo quites it down

The turbo will help a lot with the sound.

Hope you don't mind if I tag on to your post but I was also wondering about the 3" piping. Currently my DP is only 2", I would suppose going from that to 3" would still be benificial even with the smallDP, but should I look at getting a larger DP? Also, if I only plan to continue running 7 psi, would the 3" still be worth it? Thanks

With 7psi your under 200 whp for sure. If thats's what your gonna be stickin with then 2.5 would be more than enough for your needs. As for the dp I would definately up that to a 2.5 also.

I just stepped up from a 2.25" downpipe and plugged up exhaust to a nice 3" mandrel bent downpipe and straight back exhaust system to a turbo Apexi n1 muffler. No resonators or anything and it's still quieter than the plugged up exhaust i had on there. Not to mention spool time was increased sufficiently and I also needed to turn down the external wastegate ajustment due to it freeing up that flow. The bigger you can go the better for FI. I may have this custom 3" exhaust up for sale soon because i purchased a 3" mandrel bent setup from Kteller.com. Keep an eye out for it in a few weeks.
