2.25 vs. 2.5

Ok, can someone explain the benefits of both, useing both or a mix of these diameters as charge pipes.

It would be run on a D16y8 with a t3 at 10psi.

Whats the advantages/disadvantages of both.

uhm... if ur turboed, no exhaust would be the best so 2.5 would flow alot better than 2.25

just make sure u get resonators for it either way so u dont make so much exhaust noise u dont hear ur turbo.

If you mix and match, your exhaust will be restricted to the smallest diameter or ur exhaust... for example if you run a mix of 2.25 and 2.5, its essentially the same as running a 2.25 all the way through. I hope I made sense. Its late..

He was talking about charge pipes...

As for that.. you won't notice any difference... altho 2.5" is overkill IMHO.

2 is lots on a 1.5 or 1.6 sohc 2.25 is overkill but in a good way. If you go to big its just more volume to fill till you see boost.

Re:2.25 vs. 2.5

ok.... personally i'm gonna run 2 1/8" ID for my charge pipes. the reason being is that if (loke high roller said) you go to big...you'll have no velosity and u have to fill that space (volume) w/ air, which will increase lagg. if you go to small you'll have tons of velosity, but no volume (CFM).... so to keep it on the safe side and have a happy medium.... i'd say go w/ 2" ( www.jcw.com has really good prices on mandrel's)
when the air is introduced to the intercooler, it is broke up and shifted.... this is not so good for the flow, but it has to be done... i would not, say, go w/ staggered charge pipes like the DSM's have incorperated into them.

keep it simple stupid!!! ;)
