Default Is 2 1/4" or 2 " charge pipe better than 2 1/2" as far as faster boost build up?

Will the boost build up faster if the charge pipes where of smaller diameter cause there would be less area to fill up with air from the turbo before it goes into the intake manifiold?

yes, but the pipes can be too small if your running big boost and flowing alot of air.

just like a big turbo/small turbo effect, quicker spool, less boost

well i'm using 2 1/2" charge pipes w/.63 trim t3,b16a 99 civic si, 10-11psi. the welder said i would've been better
off with 2 1/4" cp "faster spool up" is this true? would it have made a significant difference? i would like to know for my next set up.

I believe those pipes are way too big for that setup. I would have gone with 2 inches myself.

i got a j spec d15b vtec with a baby *** greddy turbo, i got 2 1/4 from turbo to cooler and 2 1/2 from cooler to the throttle body. spools up fine.

btw, for every 1 who wants to call me a ricer, its not a greddy kit, just the turbo/mani/DP, the rest is homemade.

well crap.

i got a bunch of 2.5" mandrel bends as part of a deal with my IC. is it worth my money to just go out and buy some 2" mandrel bends, or is the extra lag really going to be noticeable?

yeah it's a dsm turbo, I'm having problem with my wastegate though and boost falls off to 6psi on top end.

My stock intercooler piping was 2 inch, when I built my trunk-mounted intercooler setup, i used 2.5 inch piping, my turbo spools up exactly the same a it did with the stock intercooler and piping. I also have a bit more piping now also.
