1992 Civic hatch build up -- Looking for Ideas
Alright well I'm helping my little bro's friend turbo his civic. The thing is, i'm a saab guy and don't know anything about Honda's. I know my fair share about turbos how everything works injectors turbos ect. What i don't know are the engines for Civics and whats the best way to go about boosting this engine. This is what i'm dealing with. We have 1k to spend onthe engine. Its a Hatch dx 1.5 no Hp at all this thing is wicked slow. I bought the intercooler today off ebay, i have a t25 Garett Turbo from a Saab can support up to 250whp Max thats what was running in my Saab untill i upgraded. I will be getting new injectors BOV looking into engine management right now, not sure what I'm going to do about that so far. My question is, how much boost can this engine take, should i even bother boosting this engine? What the name of the engine thats in this car. I'm guessing the RPM go to 8k. Is 1k enough to get the amount of HP that we are looking for. Yes this is my first post and i'm searching the forums as we speak. I know all about searching my site is www.saablink.net I'm one of the admins. Any help would be awesome thanks.
Dan
Also trying to use the search button but it just goes to a blank page this happen to anybody else?

What i'm using so far
Managment System : Thinking about megasquirt
Turbo : Garrett T25
Intercooler : Ebay UNI 26x6c2.5
Injectors : ?
BOV : Ebay UNI

Stock d15 can handle close to 200whp. Use 450cc dsm injectors, that intercoolers fine, and use uderdata or crome for engine management. My d16z6 made 195whp stock. But that's a 1.6 liter engine not 1.5. Keep reading...it took me a year of research before I began my project. Try turbod16.com. Good Luck

well you have come to the right place for your build up.$1000 should be enough.
that dx should have a d15b7 motor.
good news is that the stock ecu (P06) will be great for management once chipped.
92 harness should have wiring for vtec if you want to add that later.
look at the sponsors in the for sale section for most of your parts and services!
do you have access to a welder?

Thanks for the info i'm still doing research and thinking about just doing the Crome like you said. Just Picked up a GT25 for $75 with 90k on it so that should do fine, getting the injectors on ebizzle tonight also along with some oil lines. Just have a few more things to buy i will be posting up some pictures and more then likely have more questions. I have a Eprom burner but i have not tuned any car before so though should be fun. Thanks for the anwsers i'll keep you updated

I'd say you should be fine with stock injectors - with this turbo would see around 160-170HP on this engine so 240's will support this power - some guys will disagree, but I know d16 civics with stock injectors/fuel pump pushing 195HP and it is runnung on chipped ECU just fine - but you would be pushing them to the limits.
The turbo is small, Honda engine is reving higher than saab and there will be poor top-end - this is what I am suffering from using saab T25 -> max power170HP@5,5K, tq 245Nm@3,8K RPM while engine rews up to 7,4K RPM (D16) - TD04-16t upgrade on its way . Small turbo means massive torque at low-end - it is not what rods like best, especially when they are like toothpickers.
