Clean... looks good.

I think you meant .4 bar, not .04 bar for the spring (otherwise, you're not really boosting much :P)

The body needs work, its really nothing to be proud of. Now that the car runs well Im going to enjoy it for the summer and then Im planning on painting the body later on. I promised my wife Im gonna take a break. I also have brand new 99 Si rims, so, Im gonna get tires and put those on once the body is done.

nice clean looking setup but i have a question putting a set-up on my crx and was wondering how you routed your hot side piping since you clocked the compressor housing downward didnt you have problems with your dp routing or did it not interfere

post some pics of piping(how you routed it PLEASE!!!!!)

To really see the DP I would have to remove it, but I can take pics and explain. Using 2.5" stainless steel 180 degree and 90 degree bends, the piping is directed toward the notch near the center of the crossmember. Then, towards the rear of the car. The cold side uses a Turbonetics 90 degree cast aluminum elbow to direct the flow towards the left side of the IC.
Thanks for the comments.

Wow. Nice/clean for sure. :y I like it. The FMIC black with the black mess is hot, but the gauges in the glove box is cool. I was looking at that driving down the road the other day and thought it'd be pretty cool in there. Looks cool, but smashing gears that thing probably flops around. :S I got ALOT of junk in my glove box though and my gauge is nice where it's at so. LOL.

Re: Completed Turbo ED

Thanks for all of the replies. I went for a reliable setup, basically 6-7lbs of boost (according to my MAP sensor), but, I could have gotten more power.
Ive had problems with oil leaking from the CHRA of the turbo. Ive gotten advice to check my return line and today I did that. I am using a restrictor .060 (1/16") and my gauge reads all the way up to 75PSI !! I dont understand how its possible, but anyway, I was told that the oil viscosity (Im using 5w30) and the proper oil level are contributing factors to the leak. I dont mind getting my turbo rebuilt, but I dont know if the problem is that my oil pressure is too high, because even after a rebuild the high pressure may damage the rebuild. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Completed Turbo ED

looks ------- awesome! good job!

one question...why not face the turbo the other way for easier DP routing? it doesnt look to be a/c compatible, and thats about the only reason to face it the way you did

Re: Completed Turbo ED

is your adj. fpr necesary since you have 450cc injectors and can tune the fuel map from your chip

Thanks. When I flipped the turbo around to have the hot side on the passenger side the turbo wouldnt clear the radiator. I was going to use a half rad., but then the crossmember would force me to lean the radiator back to clear the hood. I didnt want to get ghetto, so I came up with this setup.

Xenocron gave it to me when he chipped my ECU.

The car had it already installed when I bought it.

Very nice and clean, i just turbo'd my civic hatch and i wish i would have done a better job and taken the time to make it a good clean job.
I had a question i see you installed the dsm 450's and i was wondering if you used the stock seals and clips? i just put them in mine with a chipped ecu from xenocron and now my car wont start i cant figure out why. help will be appreciated thanx

No, too much oil pressure OR an improper oil return will NOT damage the turbo. So rebuilding it is a good way to trouble shoot the problem. if your turbine end piston ring was worn out, a rebuild will cure the problem. If it still leaks, your oil feed/return or engine compression are the next things to worry about.

No, I bought replacement o rings and Honda seals. I installed the o rings on the top and bored the lower seals to accomodate the DSM's. My car is a 91' so, it was manufactured with a resistor box. The electrical clips are identical on the DSM's, so, the Honda fuel injector clips plugged right in to the DSM injectors. From what I understand 1992 - up use a different set up, meaning a resistor must be installed to run the DSM injectors.

I was planning on sending my turbo to you until I ran into some problems with my car. I have a steady red CEL on my ECU, and Im getting tired of my car leaving me stranded. Im getting a little discouraged and I was talking to my wife about parting out the turbo kit, or selling it complete and going N/A to be reliable. My motor is completely rebuilt, with a rebuilt head, new battery, starter, rebuilt 5 speed, struts, springs, fuel pump, and much more. Im just saying that Ive invested a lot of time and money into this car to do the work properly, and to be reliable, but it seems that since I went turbo Ive gotten stuck with the car too often. Is it an unrealistic goal to use this as a daily driver. I dont know. I sure could use a little encouragement right now.

Re: Completed Turbo ED

This site has all the ressources to resolve your problems.
A turbocharged car can be very reliable.
If you have a CEL, check the code and resolve it.
If the turbo is leaking, send it to me.
Any other problems? Just post it here and i'm sure everybody will jump in to help.

A HMT guy giving up on a project, on his wife's advice on top of that, really sounds like a big failure and disapointment for you, and all of us.

Don't give up!!
thanx for the help i got it running yesterday, by the way i have a 90 civic si hatch to so i have a resistor box also. thanx and dont give up your setup looks awesome keep working on it and fix the bugs.

Re: Completed Turbo ED

Well I was persistant and I got the car to run well and getting all the "bugs" out. I think this was the most challenging part for me. Anticipating problems and solving them when they occur.
Chris Xenocron had given me some good advice to cure the ECU problem I was having. So, thanks to all you noggs who helped me, and encouraged me along the way. Let me know if any of you have questions or if there is anything I can do to help with your install. :-*

i have a question your running a 42/48 ts right? i JUST turbo'd my d15b2 and i was wondering how the turbo spools on your car, does it hold 8 psi till redline? thats the only thing im worried about it seems to build boost real fast at like 2300 rpm and hit 8 psi at around 3200 rpm for me but im on a basemap and havent redlined it yet

Well, I have a 4 bar spring, so we got a reading of approx. 7psi from the Mass Air Flow Sensor.
The turbo spools pretty quickly, but not @ 2300 RPM, Id say maybe betwen 3k-4k RPM, and I can hear the W/G open at about a little bit above 5K RPM. (Dont quote me on that though.)

I bought the battery box at the local Pep Boys. Originally I had ordered one from
Summit Racing, but, it was way too large, so, I returned it and went to Pep Boys.
I believe it is a group 24 box/battery combo. (It is larger than stock)

Re: Completed Turbo ED

Ive been driving the car daily now for about another week and it runs really good. Im going to invest in a Turbo blanket to reduce my underhood temps.
Right now, the temps havent hit 90 deg outside and I can visually see the effects of the heat under the hood. (HID starter has a sticker on it, and its shriveling up)
Maybe Ill take Pics of the install/ maybe not.

Car runs well, Ill take pics soon. Ive done a lot of upgrades like SS brake lines, Neuspeed springs, replaced the windshield wiper linkage, larger turbo (re-tuned to 12psi) with new DP and re-routed charge pipes, traction bars, and 1/2 rad w/EG overflow tank. I fixed my sunroof that wouldnt close and Im working on an idle problem. I cleaned the IACV and nothing happened, so, Im gonna clean the Fast Idle Valve.
Ive picked up some replacement panels for the rocker panels and quarter panels so that will be coming up next.
The spare block is waiting to get filled with new internals.

Thanks. They were OBX and I replaced them with OE B/C they kept leaking no matter what I did. It seems my water pump is very hi powered. ???
