1991 Jetta 1.8liter, Will this TURBO setup work (first turbo project)
I got a 1991 jetta 1.8 liter and bought this homemade turbo kit off a VWVortex member.
The kit has the following:
-Mazda turbo mounted to a stock modified manifold
-Intercooler
-26lb G60 injectors
-Most of the piping
-cheap BOV and still searching for a 38mm wastegate for the turbo.
Putting this kit on the car is not the problem, it's tuning and setting everything.
Is this enough fuel for the extra boost? (only planning to run 5-7psi)
Should I look into a FMU?
Will this even work?
Any help will help. Thanks

get a fuel rail to go with those G60 injectors... the stock rail is your next hold up when you use proper injectors liek g60's
also you will still need more fuel, unfortinatly you cant ship your ECU... does your car have Digifant or DIS fuel injection?

If he's using g60 injectors, I'm pretty much going to assume it's a digifant injection setup (seeing that g60's were a digifant1 injection, a version of motronic). CIS injection uses a throttle plate to adjust to the amount of airflow going into the motor, and in turn adjusts the amount of fuel and fuel pressure running through the SEPERATE injection lines to the motor. There technicly are no "injectors" on a CIS setup, at least not how everybody else thinks injectors...these are mainly just nozzles. IMHO CIS injection is the easiest to turbo charge...upgrade the fuel pump(s), larger injector nozzles or increased fuel pressure, turbo, and voila'!. If turbocharged TVR's and porsches can use CIS, why not?
