The NT drum with less clutch packs gets burnt up pretty quick. We pulled one apart that was on my friends mini (T3/T4 @ 15psi) and all the clutch material was gone, metal on metal. Fluid looked like glitter paint.

I guess they are ok other than that. Oh, the NT gear set has a weaker pinion and a higher gear ratio. My opinion is that a high (numerical) gear ratio is bad for FWD.

gahh, not hating on tkelly but get a different car, those are the ugliest must unreliable vehicle made, its really laughable they named it the reliant, because the only thing you can rely on it to do is break down and get you made fun of, but hey do what you please just trying to help.

Yeah with a DSM you have to completely rebuild the engine to unfuck what the previous owner did to it. The talon and I go to couples counseling too, it's been helping.

TurboShadow, I am not trying to trash you or anything but you made a cocky statement with only a 14 second car with aspirations of a high 13, I used to love guys like you who got cocky because they could smoke your average grocery getter or riced out honda, when for exactly 775 dollars a 12 second car can be made out of a dsm. I am not trying to hate on you but your car is a little out of the dsm's league unless you drop some real cash into it, I know a turbo shadow that runs a 14 is pretty ridiculous but please stop hating on someone's car that you dont know.

well, its been probably 4 years since Ive drove that car, and no it wasn't the fastest thing. Surprised the ---- out of people on the streets, and that was the point I was trying to make. It did break 13's, once on slicks. The car was still trapping 100mph. That trap in a awd DSM is good for low 13's pretty easy right? The car just wouldn't hook. There is also more then a few things I would have changed on that car I had I known better, mainly the IC that was smaller then a stock dsm unit, while I was running over 20psi. With a good set of slicks, a wideband tune (it was beyond pig rich), and a better IC the car probably would have went 12's. But, I was young and didnt know any better. When I put that car back together it should go 12's pretty easy and still be a nice driver. Live and learn I guess.

but BTW, the last DSM I raced in that car got slaughtered... I really thought the kid was going to start crying so I told him what I had done to the car.... that it wasn't stock.

That wasn't you was it?

yeah im such an idiot because i was about to pic up the 89 reliant with 89k miles for $150
off my neighbor and it was in perfect running and driving condition
and i found a shadow es turbo with a blown tranny for $100 with a rebuild less than 10k ago
i figured that would be a pretty sweet $250 project, hell i could have scraped the leftover parts and had the car basicly free
but i ended up getting the 88 turbo coupe with a t5 as my current toy
and it's fun
im glad i stopped being cheap for a minute and bought somthing nice
and it's pretty quick

but nice to see that hmt has some of the guys left on here that have been here for years
i mean everyone on here now has like 3-10post and knows nothing
it's like the blind leading the blind
so ------- gay!

Haha, that actually is pretty quick for a shadow and I am sure you could blow a few dsms out of the water, but me and you share the same problem, FWD... aha I know what thats like, try a trap of about 126 for a 11.7, wheel spin ftl, but yea, I figured you were some kind of ricey honda owner just talking trash before you knew what another guy drove, but I like those time haha, just not a fan of the body style. Those times are good enough to beat 95% of the cars on the street for sure.
