Default 14b spool time

I am just curius as to what the ideal spool time on a 14b is supposed to be. My exhaust is still pretty small (2in exhaust with stock cat ) So i know im getting the best spool time. Im looking to see how far off i am, just for referencing spoints. Im looking at a kteller 3in exhaust. Anyone know how loud it is? Im really not wanting something that sounds crazy loud. To give you an example of my opinion of too loud, open downpipe was entirly to loud for my taste.

With the stock cat, expect it to spool around 6k rpm.

Open downpipe with turbo? I have 2 1/4 DP --> 2 1/2 --> 3 cat back. It's half as loud with the turbo on. "The turbo acts as a muffler" as quoted by Jagojon3.

It does act like a muffler, i have a 2.5" straight pipe on my 14b and it's quieter than the old 2" with cat and a muffler. Honestly 3" exhaust on a 14b is overkill. 2 1/4 to 2 1/2" is fine for it, just gut out your cat while you're at it. I read something somewhere (forget where or i would have included a link ) that stated for a 4 cyl turbocharged engine to make full use of a 3" exhaust it would have to be producing upwards of 450 hp, and there's no way you're gonna make that on a 14b Average spool time on my 14b on a z6 with the 2.5" straight pipe was a bit laggier than most setups that i've read about on here, usually started making pressure at 2800rpm, but didn't hit a full 6 psi until around 4200...but was making 12 psi by 5000 rpm. I liked how it worked out on the z6, so i think i'm going to port out the exhaust housing a bit and use it on my b18 now and see how it does.

The less backpressure the better so I think 3inch is better. 4200 huh? T3 .42/.48 is bigger and what I run. Hits 10.5psi at 3700rpm. Are we talking in the same gear?
