I am planning on the same thing, Turboing my daily driver, and here is what I have found out.

W/O internal build up you should be fine 6-8psi, granted you have the following, tuned fuel and ignition. I plan on using the 450cc injectors w/ AFC /BTM (boost timing management). An intercooler is also a must have.

Also you are going to have to start using 92 or higher Octane fuel to help prevent detonition.

The bottom ends on D blocks are usually good to about 200hp minus a little, well tuned (W/o fuel management they blow quick) and reliable, B's can take a little more. I am not to sure about the F blocks (Accord engines) should have a bit stronger rods since they are a bit bigger, but I dont really know since Ive never opened one up.

Also dont skim money from ANYTHING, like oil fittings for example. Get Stainess lines with threaded connections on everything. Basically bulletproof the oil/coolent lines.

For prolonged driving later down the line you might think about a larger radiator core/oil cooler after the turbo, to help the engine reach some cooler temps down the freeway.

i dont think he should be worried too much about the motor. as long as your not flooring it everywhere its like drinve a normal car.91accordlx, you need to worry about how your tranny is going to handle the boost. its an auto and i dont know how much torque they can handle. let us know!

True I would be cruising most of the way, except my cruising speed is about 85mph :P that would be about 3500-4000rpm. That kind of RPM with a small TD04 and a 2.2L engine would = near constant boost no? And I do tend to pass alot, but not where I pass then have slam on my breaks so I don't hit the car in the lane I just changed into.

It doesnt matter what RPM you are at, only if under a load will you boost, like having nitrous permenantly

Whats up buddy. I used to have the td04 in my accord and everytime I went on the freeway and was going above 70 and hit the gas it went into fulll boost. When I switched to the 14b I didnt have that problem anymore. The td04 is fine for friving around town but hits boost way to easy on our engines when we are on the highway. So no your engine even when tuned properly wont last too long with the td04 on highway drives. Now if you go to a little larger turbo it will work just fine. Try the 14b and see how that works. Remember that td04 was on a 2.0 liter engine with a perfect engine management from the factory and still boosted pretty damn quick.

i've averaged over 2k miles/month since i put on my turbo. 10psi and i beat on it all the time. just make sure you have a good tune.

yup only when under load it will boost.
When i was tuerboed i could cruise on the highway at 5K rpm's and not boost.
I was just lightly pressing the gas just holding it like a tad ...so the rpm's rose slowly and evenly. It won't boost like that...no load

55mi. commute isn't bad. my friend has a greddy kit with the bluebox and he had a 180mi commute once a week. i asked him how it was and he said he hardly even builds boost on the freeway. He did that for over a year and his car is running great.

dont most of you guys drive around 1.6 or 1.8 liter engines? I can definetly see how the tdo4 would be fine on something smaller like that but its a little different on a 2.2 like we have. When I had the tdo4 on my f22a1 i had full boost by 2200 (10psi) and I really didnt even have to floor it. Like I said the tdo4 is fun as hell during city driving but I just hated how it would hit tons of boost any time I just accelerated a little on the highway. Also the f22a doesnt have as much rpm to play with, ---- it makes its peak power at around 5300 and then dies off past then.
