PICS ARE UP!!!

Anyways, here's my setup:

B18B1 w/pr3 pistons and cometic .070" hg (10.4:1 cr)
rocket single valvesprings with crower 404s
clutchmasters stg4 4puck
gsr tranny
t3/t04e 57 trim stg3 wheel .63 a/r exh. housing
neukin ramhorn mani (this was a last minute addition, and it's sweet)
tial 38mm
neukin dumptube (hacked up a ton)
very short downpipe
6" fmic
piping that i scraped together off a friend for really cheap (meant for dc chassis)
rfl knockoff
rc 440s
walbro 255
autometer phantom boost gauge (it has really gay huge numbers, but wtf it reads boost so i don't give a ----)

and it's all in my 93 hatch, that tips the scales at 2020 lb.

Here are some pics BEFORE BOOST:

With my neukin mani and tial wg, the wg hit the rad support so we had to cut out a chunk to make it work.
Attachment 28083

I love this boost gauge location. And I hate a-pillar pods, so it works out great.
Attachment 28084

A shot of the fmic and piping. I need to hack up the piping a little bit cause there's no way in hell my front bumper is going on right now, so I'm just cruisin around ghetto-style.
Attachment 28085

Need I say anything about the manifold? It kicks ass.
Attachment 28086

You can see the hacked up dump tube chillin next to the TURBE (haha jk turbo)
Attachment 28087

The bov was a bit of work. My upper ic pipe had a tial flange on it w/jb weld, that we heated up and the flange just kinda came off. So we chiseled away the jb weld, and in the meantime i had an upper pipe for an ef w/the bov on it. We cut a squarish piece out of the ef pipe w/the flange for the bov on it, and hammered it down to a square and cut out a circular piece, which was welded onto the upper ic pipe. And voila. Credit for this goes to my friend Alex in case he reads this.
Attachment 28088

If you look you can see my short dp. I have a back half that needs to get welded on cause the back half has o2 bungs and a nice flex section.
Attachment 28089

Around this area I noticed a little bit of oil spray at first. I pulled the valve cover, made sure the cam seals were in good, and threw some permatex on the vc gasket and made sure that was all good. The oil issue SEEMS to have subsided, but it's hard to tell cause the old oil is hard to get at to clean up, and....it doesn't really just dry up. The oil filter was fine, the oil feed was fine, and it started above the hg (not like the hg would spray oil anyways...right?) so it had to be vc gasket or cam seals right? Any other input is greatly appreciated.
Attachment 28090

I've been too scared to go WOT, cause it's just on a phearable chip right now, but partial throttle is NUTS. I mean I haven't ridden in a whole lot of "fast" cars, but it feels absolutely awesome. I'm pretty sure that at halfish throttle in 2nd gear when I hit around 6psi it spun the tires til it banged of the rev limiter.

EDIT: WG issue taken care of thanks to slo_crx1! derrrr on my part

And i think a cam seal is leaking, so i have to deal with that annoyance, but overall, HOORAY!!! It's already lasted longer than my first setup on my d15(approx. 3hours lol).

PICS WILL BE UP SOON!

The pressure line for the wastegate should come off the turbo and connect to the bottom nipple on the wastegate. It uses the compressor's pressure to push it open against the set spring pressure to reach the desired boost level. Attaching the line to your top line on the wastegate is just pressing it closed even tighter, and explains why your hitting 8psi at part throttle. FYI, the top line on the wastegate is meant to be used with a boost contoller.

Thanks so much! I asked my friend who i got the wg from cause i wasn't sure, and he was....wrong.

Now, if my turbo doesn't have a vacuum nipple on it, is it ok to have the wg signal come from my im? (it's a fat vacuum nipple, not a tiny one)
When i say, "is it ok", i mean, will it respond quick enough?

Thanks for the advice.

You should have your wg line coming from a pressure source. I currently have mine coming off a nipple on my charge pipe leading off of the turbo, seeing that my 16g doesn't have a nipple on the housing. You could hook it up to your intake manifold, that would work as well. If that's where you have it coming from, just leave it there and swap it to the bottom nipple on your wastegate.

PICS ARE UP!!!!!

And in regard to the oil spray pic, it was more towards the middle/lower/right corner of the pic. Sorry, it's really vague, but idk how else to show it.

Setup looks great, much better than the n/a b7 that was in there last time I saw it ;)

What about your dipstick, is the handle melting? let it.

Too hot to grab? Use a shop towel. I keep one wedged in my engine bay at all times.

do you have a bin file for your car before you boosted it? i have a friend that has an ls with pr3's and crower 404's and needs a basemap.

Thanks Jon! I've been meaning to ask, if I happen to make it out by you and bring some more hmt-style cookies would you help me tune the bitch? The basemap runs suprisingly well but I'm still scared all the time. I haven't been able to make myself go full throttle yet.

Thanks for the info, I go slit my pos3ur-azz jDm wrists now. Haha, I didn't put it on.

Well, before I boosted it I ran it on a phearable chip for pr3s and crower 403s, but it worked pretty well. The only thing is, after it warms up, it won't idle for terribly long on it's own. But it pulled nice (for being na) and worked well. If you want I could sell you the chip for like $10 shipped. It's sitting in my garage in the little protective plastic thingy. Let me know.

A new honda dipstick is about $15 if yours melted. Mine did a bunch of times, and with the blowby I had and a melted dipstick, the dipstick would pop up and oil would spray all over my manifold whenever I hit boost. Mang that sucked. I carried like 4 cans of brakecleaner with me at all times to clean the oil off the manifold when it happened, otherwise it would damn near choke you to death inside the car. :8 That reminds me, use brakecleaner to clean off the spot on your engine to you can see if the oil is fresh. Cam seal is likely though

im still learning the tuning ways but from my understanding its harder to accurately street tune partial throttle then WOT, so WOT might be better if ur gunna drive it, that is the basemap is semi decent... but expect fouled plugs soon! im sure shes super rich for being untuned... that or lean and POP. anyways nice work geter tuned and get some ripper vids up :y

Re: 10.4:1 LS, crower 404s, gsr tranny, t3/t04e 57 trim RUNS!

yeah, well what I'd like to do is a WOT pull in say 3rd gear and then shut it off and pull over and check plugs. but i also dont wanna do that to my brand new turbo.

but my dp is welded up now so tuning is now possible. i just need to get a zif socket cause mine is just pressed into that little black thing lol and it's a bitch to take out.

yeah partial throttle is a bit more difficult to tune then WOT, unless you cruise around the block a few times with the autotune running. i did that on my old car and i was actually able to feel it getting better by the minute. by time i got home it was driving like stock at part throttle.

i'll just make a base myself for my friends car, kinda just needed one to get him to the dyno a little bit safer then with a stock map.

thanks, i'm pretty sure the paint is just captiva blue pearl, but it has a lot of metal flake, it almost looks like the flake is on top of the paint.

Yeah, when I got this, it needed a bit of de-ricing. it had gay ass 17s, subs, like a ft long blue shiftknob, ---- like that, but it had this really nice paint.

Otherwise, my friend painted the rear interior (there's no carpet) a sexy blue, that's a mixture of voltage blue and wrx blue. if you wanna see a pic of that i can put one up.
