i say go for it. there are a lot of pussies and weak minded ******* on there like "copex". if its tuned right WITH A MEGASQUIRT or similar, it will be hunky dory. i've never heard of one being blown on that boost that didnt crack/melt a piston. if the rods are like the kl-de though, you might have some issues with bendage if you push it past 10psi. they are pencil thin, not sure about the kl-ze rods.

torque bends rods, psi generates torque. for that matter psi generates hp too, but its the torque that matters. revving high for more hp will end up not with a bent rod, but with one through the side of the block with no cap and broken bolt(s).

My 1st ever turbo car was a 1983 Saab 900T and it was 10:1 CR. I ran a Garrett T3 at over 1 bar and it did just fine for over 150k miles. I sold it, and to my knowledge it's still running strong with over 500k miles on the original motor and tranny at almost 16psi which is easily 200whp. Gotta respek dem old Swedish beasts. Sure they look like turtles, but have a closed deck iron block ftw.
After all the reason turbocharging is so rampant nowadays is because of Saab ( mid 70's OG 99 w/ 2.0L 8V turbo). You don't need a standalone for them either. Easy as hell to chip the Bosch (Jetronic? Motronic?) computer.
