yes, because welding is the only thing involved in fabrication

i give you credit for cutting which i guess is fabrication.

to me fabrication, is the designing (which to me, was as simple as putting 2 bends on a straight section, as its obvesouly shown in the picture, its nothing new) and then welding it together, which you said you didnt do. its nothing serious. might be your first one, so your excited about it, but its not much. and you didnt do it. so dont take credit for it. like i said, tell your fabricator he did a good job.

i am having my down pipe made by ronnies muffler shop in jacksonville, nc tommorow. he will do a good job. but i guess i will fab it up, since I will tell him to put 2 bends in it. ohh yeah, i will also tell him to put an o2 bung in it, so kevin can put his wide band sensor in it and tune it for me. he also will weld it for me, but i will do all of the fabbing.

I did mill my own flange though, my own design, my own metal, i used a lathe, and a bridgeport mill. I did have my buddy give me a hand with it though, so WE fabbed it. I havent milled anything in about 4 years so, he reminded me of how to set everything up and speeds they should be cut at and that sort of thing.

he didnt just put the two pieces together. you have to cut em at certain angles for it to fit on the flange. did u not see the whitey bend. you just cant cut pipes and expect everything to fit

you're a ------- idiot.

i designed, prepared the material, tacked together the mockup, the only thing i didnt do was weld it all up. Sure I could have used my shitty welding skills to weld it all up and had it look like total ***, but if I have 3 people around me with excellent welding ability why not let them do it?

and on another note, its a ------- downpipe, what do you expect some modern marvel of steelworking art? all this bitching and you're having someone else make your ----.

Every day I run press breaks, turret presses, punch presses, tubing benders both press bend and mandrel, steel shears and many other pieces of equipment in a production environment, but I suppose I don't do anything at work, since I'm not the one welding it.

Your view is distorted and uneducated. You can say all you want, as I was never tried to make any false claims, or take any credit for the welding. You act as if I was trying to show off something as if it were some amazing feat. The purpose of this thread was to be informational. Photos of work done that show how things were done can be useful to people trying to do the same thing, and all you can do is jump in and try to flame and be cool because I didn't weld the damn thing. News flash, no one gives a ----. And you telling someone to "use two bends" and make your downpipe is not fabrication, half wit.
