instead of purging , i use solar flux...ceramic powder i use for backing when butt welding ss tubes......its the ----!!!
clean, no clumping.....it even promotes fussion....

The glass like residue does a number on the exhaust wheel. Plus, Im not mixing up ---- while welding.

i wondered about the residue......but manage to clean up well with some mild acid and toilet brush...new one...

but i do agree especially on the air intake pipes, and a more fragile inlet wheel....but yet have i seen damage result manifold flaking though the charger......in short thats the picture im getting...

and do you mean mixing up ---- while welding .......like contaminating your welds?

No I mean that I thought that stuff is a powder that had to be mixed with meth or something like that?

Yes, it needs to be mixxed with meth. I've used the stuff alot, and like it. I've done alot of intercooler systems, and a few manifolds and have never seen any damage resulting from the residue. Obviously, I've always cleaned the ---- out of everything afterwards too

yes...it is a powder, and i do mix it up into a paste....i don't mind though i apply it with a small paint brush ....i wash the ---- out of everything with meth then apply the paste , before even tacking...

i prefer to leave the discoloration of the weld. as a finished product...and its hard like a bitch to get into with a bit grinder to clean up for air flow....witch we all can agree is the more important issue here.....

its not purging....but for someone building that doesn't have the money for the added argon....i recommend it.
