Where do I get these?
My steering is ---- on my truck and I need a beefy setup that won't bend or wear out as easy as the bullshit stock setup. Where can I order the parts I need to make a heim steering setup like this:

I don't want a 7 kabillion dollar kit you asshat. :P I also don't want some cheap ---- that's going to break in half on my way out of town on the highway doing 90mph. :P
www.cognitomotorsports.com sells a kit for my truck, but it's $325. :-\ __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
Re: Where do I get these?
you can get heim joints and the threaded bungs for them all over the place.
personally i always go to oregon motorsports/off-road tech because they're local and carry one of these highest quality heims in production. off-roaders will complain alot that their heims always fail, so they buy the rebuildable heims, and complain that its a pain in the ass to deal with those too. we've run Kris' (Oregon Motorsports owner) heims for years now on tons of stuff including the longarm suspension kits under both of my brother in law's jeeps and not one has shown signs of wearing out or failure. Everything still looks brand new. Downside is they aren't terribly cheap. I do believe they are made by FK Bearings. www.fkrodends.com |
Re: Where do I get these?
make your own, check out the blue torch fab site and look around, they sell tubine and heims, just get some tubing and heims and get to work, itll be a couple hundred or close though. heims arent cheap. :-\

why dont you just run a lift kit, and stock setups werent meant to last forever.. just freshen em up, and see if you can get parts from the top of the line model for example, on my 1994 sle jimmy 4x4, i upgraded it with parts from an SLT jimmy, and that thing runs awesome, i take it offroad.. through mud and snow.. but a beefy suspension like that will prolly run like ---- on the street... what kind and year truck is it? |
Re: Where do I get these?
Well considering the truck only has 20,000 miles on it and the entire steering system is fucked already I would say I need to beef it up a bit. The tie rods are so fuckign tiny on this truck. I have no idea what made them think it was a good idea to put such tiny tie rods on such a heavy ass truck. ::)
I'd like to have a bullet proof suspension so I don't have to worry about popping balljoints out of the control arms and snapping tie rods. I'd say a complete heim steering would get me in the right direction. Everytime I hit a dip my tires flew opposite directions and squeel because the steering is so sloppy. :-\ The truck is a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500HD. __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
Re: Where do I get these?
well itd help if you werent launching your stock HD off of dips, and thats your bump steer your not really gonna get away from it, just beef up the steering and get a uniball upper arm (we could make one pretty easy, uniball are about 100 a peice) and a spindle and a little stronger torsions and youd have a clean front end but they youd have to move to the rear to equal out to the front, some deavers and bilstein 5100's or 7100's should do the trick, oh and i forgot youd probably want to build a hoop for two 2" shock or one 2.5 or 2 2.5's with rezzies. itd be a decent mid travel setup.

Re: Where do I get these?
----, I can move one wheel quite a bit before the other one moves. The tie rods are worn out. Have you sen the tierods on this truck? I bet yours are bigger. My brothers Toyota has tierods at least twice the size of mine and his are stock.
