Default What Welder?

I want to start welding eventually. What would be a good all around welder to have for making manifolds, and other car need things? Also for welding steel so that I can make myself a new stand for my saltwater tank??

And where would I get it from. Ive checked out a few locally, but im not sure really what to even look for at this point....

TIG or MIG? How much are you willing to spend, are you going to weld aluminium, what are you looking at doing with the machine? How much do you plan on welding with it?

I stated for making manifolds, and welding steel at a minimum.
