What gauge wire for the plug on the smiley/mitech MTC120?
I had a question for the guys with the Smiley Tools/ Mitech MTC120. What gauge wire are you running on your power cable?
It's shipping out today and I was going to pick up the stuff I needed so when it gets here I can start working with it.
I already picked up the breaker and such and decided on 4 gauge from the breaker to the recepticle which is rated at 70 amps. Just curious on how your power cable is setup from the welder to the recep.
Thanks

LOL That thing only draws about 20 amps max. It only has 14ga coming out of it which is undersized. Mine never gets hot and I have run it on a 20 amp breaker and it was fine. I run it on a 30 amp breaker now with a 10 ga feed.

Damn! $5.50 a ft!? It was only $.89 a ft for the 4 gauge when I bought it.
I figured I'd go over just in case later I get something else needing more power. I have an Ingersoll Rand 2 stage compressor that I got for $50 bucks and is setup for 220v 3phase but the motor can be switched to run single phase and I dont know the draw on that motor yet so a little bigger wont hurt.
Thanks for the info on the setups guys.
