Re: VIDEO- Cutting collector piece with a chop saw

Thanks guys- yeah, I could see an abrasive blade trying to deflect doing this, I would guess that the key would be to go quite slow- especially at the start of the cut where the part has a lot of "crown" to it and the blade will tend to want to walk out.

It's also a good plan to go slow for the start because
1) you are cutting a large cross-seciton at that point so the feed needs to be slower and
2) it's safer to go easy on it at first and watch the part carefully to make sure everything is tight and solid in terms of clamping.

I do sell manifolds, and I have thought about just making generic collectors and throwing them on ebay form time to time, it is a good idea as it is the trickiest part for most people. I feel more motivated to try this now that I have a less mind-numbing way to cut the pieces as opposed to my bandsaw.

I finished the cutting for that collector already, but I *think* I need to make another collector from schedule 10 in the next week or so, I will make a vid demoing the "second cut"- I know it's annoying when someone posts explaining HALF of a process. Again I have seen some pretty retarded methods for lining up these cuts so I will show my method.

If I don't have another schedule 10 collector to build, I for sure have a 16ga one to build next month, so I will demo it on that. Same thing really.

chop saw ftw. thats what i use, but 150 is what i found that blade for, and i wasnt willing to spend that much for something i do once or twice a year.
SO.. abrasive blades are how i do it. 12$ each, and i still have the first one i bought, prob made 100 cuts with it, .
