Default V band flange question, please help?

Hi guys,I am a newbie to the site but not new to turbo projects. My question is this I have my old cartech turbo kit from my old mustang and I'm gathering parts to build a turbo set up on my 95 4.6l thunderbird I ordered a t04 4 bolt to 3" v band adapter and ordered a 3" v band flange and clamp set from a different company,I thought I was getting a mild steel v band set but when I got it it was stainless. The adapter for my turbo is mild steel and the stainless v band has a smaller outside diameter than the mild steel flange( where the clamp goes) .So do you guys know if the stainless v band flanges have a different outside diameter than mild steel v band flanges? Or is my adapter just a wierd size?
