allstar racing black hex. You can order it in any length. Super cheap.

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

wow those look so much easier and better than welding nuts to a steel bar...

so anyone who used these on an EF/ED what length did you get?

will 20 inches cut it?

the speedway shop had a note under the 5/8 thread aluminum rods that each heim added about 1-1/2 inches to the length of the rod. So if you measure from your car and guestimate where your traction bar will mount the radius rod, do you come up with around 23 inches?

That's all I got unless someone that already has them built can measure the actual radus rod.

danz 09-10-2008 12:52 AM

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

looks like the rods should be about 16in long. shorter than i thought.

and the bar across looks to be about 38in

edit: heh i thought u ment 3 feet per side aaron! haha :8

danz 09-14-2008 03:00 AM

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

a threaded 16 in rod should be perfect for an ef

the 38in bar for the cross member had about an inch extra on each side. worked out well.

gonna add brackets to use a stock cross member bolt hole and add a bracket for the torque mount

forgot to mention: weirtech ftw :6

Aw ----. I just bought eight feet of aluminum round bar yesterday and then I find this. :1
Sweet deals and handy parts for sure, thanks for the links guys! I'm sure I'll find some other use for the aluminum roundbar... :7

^ where'd you get the 2" steel bar from? online or locally?

FrodoGT 09-18-2008 05:02 AM

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

Damn dude sounds like your well on your way. But unless my brain has gone fuzzy or I have been out from under my car for too long and forget what it looks like, but doesn't the oem crossmember bolt to the unibody horizontally with two bolts each side. That one pictured has large vertical plates.

I want to see the pics!!! I have the weir flanges too, and I want to see how yours turned out. I also Want to see how you set up your radiator.

danz 09-18-2008 06:40 PM

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

cut off the old rad supports, dropped the rad in with the inserts over the rads nipples, then tacked them in place.

ill get some pics up soon. by the 24th for sure anyways...

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

are you running a full sized radiator or a half?

danz 09-18-2008 06:53 PM

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

still running the fully, but i have a half size im going to throw in for my next setup (different exhaust manifold and larger turbo)

it shouldn't be a problem to weld on a bracket to support the rad when needed.

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

Anyone running the weir kit in a da? bolt holes dont line up for ---- in mine.

danz 09-18-2008 07:50 PM

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

as fas as i know the DA uses a completly different style for mounting... it uses horizontal holes (like the stock cross member) not vertical ones (like the tow hooks)

BigBird 09-18-2008 10:49 PM

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

Yeah if I angle the brackets I can get 2 of the 3 holes to line up.

---- me I was about to pull mine out of the box from when we bought it. Wish I woulda known they didn't fit DA

FrodoGT 09-19-2008 03:46 AM

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

Oh so these brackets mount to the tow hook location? Interesting. If you were to run a half sized radiator would it have to tilt forward or back at all? Or will it drop down in front/behind the bars and allow you to fab brackets. If thats the case im highly interested. I need to run a half rad but I am in no mood to make it african as ---- and just sit it in behind my radiator support.

-SKUM- 09-19-2008 01:27 PM

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

I had to gangster lean the ---- out of my 1/2 rad to get it to fit in my crx. I didnt want it to be lower than my trac bar so I had to tilt it a bunch.

danz 09-19-2008 01:31 PM

i need internet to post these bad ass pics.

this traction bar would be sick on a tank. lol :y

Now that is customer service

Must vendor I've dealt with will either ignore any problems with fitment and chalk it up as installer error or they eventually solve the problem about 6 mo. or longer.

I have never bought anything WEIR but after reading about his work and customer service I will be ordering some things from him soon.

can someone update me with some details on the da tow hook pattern? i'm willing to ship some replacement towhook flanges for some pics/details/dimensions.

Re: traction bar radius rod length question

My car is 6 hours away right now so I can't get any pics of how your flanges compare to the da holes. If you get it figured out I would be interested in getting the revised flange kit from you though.
