To Tee or not to Tee?
I'm going to try making a manifold, havn't had much welding experience, but I have to start somewhere.
I have a v6, so I need 2 3-runner logs, facing one way, which then go into the turbo on the bellhousing side of the engine. I have a question, should I use Tees, or not?
If I use Tees, it comes out much more expensive (i'll use 1.5>2" reducer, and 2" Tees with 1.5" elbows)
and if I don't use Tees, it'll be much cheaper (less reducers and no Tees) and I'll probably be able to angle the elbow a little so it enters the main pipe somewhat diagonally like /.
Thoughts?
alternatively, i can get some 1.5" long elbows, a 3-way collector, and do a tubular header, but that is probably harder.
Also, sch. 10 pipe on mcmaster is friggin expensive (yet everything else is pretty cheap) - would using regular 16g tube be ok with sch. 10 elbows and stuff?
and here's a pic of a v8 with my 'style' log manifold

well, not counting the connecting bend, for the no Tees i'd use
4 1.5" 90* Elbows
1 1.5" to 2" reducer
for Tee'd logs, I'd need
4 1.5" 90* Elbows
3 1.5" to 2" reducers
2 2" Tees
That's $47/side
I skipped sch. 10 pipe ($18 per ft, wtf), I'll measure when I get home, but if I don't need sch. 10 pipe witht he collectors, then price is offset somewhat.
Besides aesthetics, do Tees provide any kind of performance improvements in my situation?

those are not real logs. if you do it like the picture then you dont need a tee. but the log that i have seen for a v6 had one side that was 1 90 and 2 tees that had a pipe connecting to the other log that was made out of three tees. i dont know how good this work it saw it on a truck at the junkyard
