That'll be pretty cool when you're done.

^gutted for some paint

^some of the bracing i added

^trimmed the gas tank to clear the carbs.

So now has come the point where i have a few questions. First is i plan on gutting the stock air box and putting the battery in there along with the rectifier and igniter. I was wondering if the igniter and rectifier need to have air flow over them or if they are inside the battery box (gutted yz airbox) will they be ok? Also, now that i have trimmed the gas tank to clear the carbs i need to figure a way to seal up the huge hole in the bottom of the tank. I went and bought a plastic welder from harbor freight and i dont know if its the welder or just maybe i cant weld plastic but, it didn't work very well. Is there anywhere i can send the tank to get it finished?

rectifier is covered on my cbr, I would think you'd want some airflow to it to keep it cool. I wouldn't put it too close to any plastic though, those suckers get hot.

lookin good, you're making quick progress.

Well i'm now wiring the bike and have a few questions. Just to make sure i have everything correct before i put power to it i would like a for a few others to check to make sure i have the correct wires going to ground and power.

Ignitor :
D/G - coil ground
B - coil ground
R/Y - 12v source
Y/B - Ground

Rectifier :
R/W - 12v source ( back to the B+ termial since i think this is the charging wire)
B - Ground
Br - 12v source

Correct or not?

Getting closer and closer to seeing if the engine runs

Here are a couple updated pics. I have finished the battery box / cage, mounted the rectifier and ignitor where they will have plenty of air flow, mounted the coils, and the rectifier is now wired along with my starter circuit. Once the ignitor is wired i will be able to attempt to start her. Over this next week i want to make my new rear brake pedal and extend the stock kz kick stand.

^tight fit

^threw some plastics on it (still need to get the tank welded)

i finished the wiring, brake pedal, and kick stand. I started on the exhaust and the way i had planed to route the center two cylinders to help give the wheel clearance is not going to work so the good news is the exhaust is done......the bad news is now i need to rake out the front end a few degrees to give me some room. Hope to have that done by the 8th......this is going to test my welding skillz

I added 3-4 degrees of rake and moved the head tube forward about 1.25". This up coming weekend i am taking a trip to "tail of the dragon" with some buddies. I'm going to borrow my uncle's honda sabre 700 for the weekend. Depending on when i get back sunday i may try to rebuild my forks. I found a 41 tooth rear sprocket so i will be able to get close to the stock sprocket ratio of the kz. I know i have said that i will try to start it but, i want to wait so when it does start i can ride it down the street at least. So i need to get part of the head welded so i can drill and tap a new hole for the exhaust stud that got broke off. Here are a few pics i snapped during this past weekend.

^pic of a couple of the pipes bolted up (pre-raking the front end)

^stock head tube

^took a little bit of time with the cutting wheel

^mocked up checking the rake angel

^little paint
