some recent stuff i've welded *pics*

ep3 seats into an eg civic... sorry i don't have pics of them installed in the car. drill out the rivets on the front mounts and cut the welds that hold them onto the rails. reweld them back on spinning them 180 degrees.

setup for tacking in place:

all done:

Whoa, weird BOV flange... does it work like a distributor hold-down clamp or something? :S

Badass welding, too! :y

no offense but in an accident, how much confidence would you have in those mounts on the seats? it just seems a little scary but maybe thats just me

How are the rails now different than the factory welds?

i have more confidence in those welds than when it came from the honda plant. weiRacing can weld a bridge together and I'll jump on it.

the factory welds on those brackets only have two spot welds on one bracket and on the other side it only has one spot weld. :-\ they also have a rivet through the middle of the bracket into the rail as well- where i think most of the strength comes from. i'd trust these welds over the orignal assemble which can be taken apart in about 3 minutes. i really wouldn't want to cut these off as they are welded on all 4 sides and it would be kinda messy.

hell yeah.I would rather be straped to that seat than to one with factory tack weld during an accident.

I'd put my life on those welds. With a tensile strength of 70,000PSI, it doesn't take much weld to hold a lot of stress.

The welds are looking good. I've seen a lot of improvement in your work lately.

The seats don't take the brunt of a frontal impact anyway. ;)

The seatbelts hold you back, not the seat.
