Some Fab pictures
You can tell the weather is taking a dump around the country, everybody is sitting in the house where it is warm looking at porn.
Well here is a few of the things I have been working on. First I got a new shop, it's a 30*50 pole barn :) But it is 24 degrees out and I can't afford to heat the darn thing. http://www.eville140.com/l/garage1.jpg So I set out to build me a room that I could heat and work in. Came up with a 25'*12' room with 8' ceilings. I used 2*10's on 16" for the roof with 3/4 strand board so I could store heavy stuff up top and out of the way. http://www.eville140.com/fab/room.jpg Picked up a cheap electric hoist from Harbor Freight and made me a HMT crain. http://www.eville140.com/fab/crain.jpg And here is a badly stitched photo of the inside http://www.eville140.com/fab/shopw.jpg Here are a couple of the things I have done recently sr20 mani http://www.eville140.com/fab/sr20.jpg Start of an intake and manifold for a toyota 3tc http://www.eville140.com/fab/3tcintake1.jpg And a manifold for a ford 2.3turbo that I am swapping into a 1st gen rx-7 http://www.eville140.com/fab/man3.jpg http://www.eville140.com/fab/man4.jpg http://www.eville140.com/fab/man6.jpg http://www.eville140.com/fab/man7.jpg And my new puppies :) Wife seen somebody dumping them on her way home form work. So she brought them home. So far great dogs. Vet says they are about 12 weeks old now. Guess they became more than the owner wanted, but I have a few acres and I wrapped it in invisble fence. Works great. http://www.eville140.com/fab/puppy.jpg Later Randy |
Re: Some Fab pictures
how much dose a pole barn like that cost?
|
Re: Some Fab pictures
i need a barn like that... some parts of my garage the ceiling is as low as 6 foot... hit my head countless times after standing up working on something...
|
Re: Some Fab pictures
Labs are great dogs - we have 2. Big paws on those two, you are probably going to have 80-90lb brutes there in 6 months. :)

Re: Some Fab pictures
im getting ready to start my "pole barn" (or so the county will think) its going to be 24*36 with 12 ft to the bottom of the rafters with a 12 on 12 pitch roof so i can build an up stairs later. it will eventually be insulated and heated with a gangster ass wood stove. im getting all the wood for free from a buddie that has his own saw mill and my dads getting me a hella deal on some steel for the roof and the siding with be gum should be really nice when im all done with it i hope to be done my feb weather permiting :-\ cant wait :y

Re: Some Fab pictures

Re: Some Fab pictures
i definatly need to find a garage somwheres, its too cold to work out side.
|
Re: Some Fab pictures
cord of wood = 1.9m btu's, whereas the equilivent in propane is like 23,700 btu's or some ----. get a few heat extractors, that ---- is rated at like 25,000 btu's each, itll really pump heat out

Re: Some Fab pictures
Shop looks awesome, and so does the build. ;D
If you don't mind me asking, about how much did it cost you to get the pad poured? I want a shop so bad. Working on a 30 degree incline is getting old. |

Re: Some Fab pictures
That barn is sick..i'm used to working in a small two bay garage with a salamander..and thats not fun because vehicles always have issues during the winter...when it can't get any colder.
|
Re: Some Fab pictures
yea i was also wondering about the pad. thats the onlything im worried about because last i checked concrete is EXPENSIVE
|
Re: Some Fab pictures
So the rx7 is a customer's car? Is the hatch yours ?
|
Re: Some Fab pictures

Re: Some Fab pictures
That's a kickass pole barn you got there. Did you get the heated floor as well?
|
Re: Some Fab pictures
I thought this thread had gone away,
I did not have the barn built, it just happened to be attached to a house in a town that my wife wanted to move to..I didn't complain. I do have a price breakdown for it though and if I remember right it was close to $20000 for it and the 20*30 sided barn behind it. The floors are not heated :( but beggars can't be choosy. The electrical service alone was over $3000, it has it's own meter and 200 amp service, and the back barn has a 100 amp service. Coming from my old 2 car garage I get almost giddy sometimes when I am out there :) It's almost too much room sometimes...like when you can't find a 10mm wrench. The rx7 is a buddies car that I am working for in exchange for some parts for my starlet. It should run pretty well into the 10's when done. I did get to work on my own car a couple days ago which was a nice change. Finished up my intake, cut and welded the in/out's on my intercooler to point where needed. And I also shortened and changed the in/outs on a radiator to fit the car better. By the time the car runs I'm going to have to repaint the engine compartment, I put a scatter shield on last week and had to do a little bit of clearencing(sledge hammering) of the firewall to get it to fit. And because of that now the gas pedal is touching the floor so that is just another little thing I have to work on. But it is starting to look better http://www.eville140.com/starlet12/engine1.jpg The puppies are getting pretty big, and yes they chew up everything in site, and they have half my yard dug up trying to locate moles. But darn they are cool. Later Randy |
Re: Some Fab pictures
Wish I had a work space like that, that rocks.
Good to see progress on the Starlet. |
Re: Some Fab pictures
Very nice work man! I could get a pretty penny for that SR20 manifold over here. :y
|
Re: Some Fab pictures
That is all so sick. The barn. The manifolds, everything. VERY nice!

http://www.eville140.com/starlet15/engine1.jpg Got it running pretty decent up to around 15# and was working on 20# when the clutch gave up, think I had a slave cylinder problem as it held a 4th gear blast fine, then it wouldn't pull itself in first? Had to be home so the wife could go to work so I limped it back home about 2-3 miles...so the cltuch was more than dead by the time I got home. Bellhousing has a scatter shield on it that makes getting to the bolts with the engine in the car impossible. So here is how it looks today. :( http://www.eville140.com/hibernate.jpg Already have another clutch, but going to hold off and tear the motor down, half fill it with hardblok, get some billet main caps, line hone and rehone the cylinders. Then when spring hits give it hell. I never got any videos from when it was running good. But here is a tuning run at just under 15#. Was having problems holding a tune from run to run, ended up being a dirty fuel filter and was dropping fuel pressure under boost :o 20# of boost with good fuel pressure makes this video look silly. http://www.eville140.com/video/15psi.wmv And my puppies are still doing great, just much bigger. |
Re: Some Fab pictures

Re: Some Fab pictures
nice randy!! glad to see it running. it's been a couple years since you've been working on this puppy. i finally gave up on the turboford route myself. guess hitting a wall and destroying your car does that too you. :( seems our cars both had the same fate. I gave in to the honda world. guess i'll see how this light wrong wheel drive wonder works for me.

As for the manifold on my car, I have made quite a few 3tc manifolds and that one just happened to be done when I was ready to start it. :) Plus I was sick of top mounts. |
Re: Some Fab pictures
