the welds are 100% just as strong grey or not, the metal is just gonna rust anyways
me welding mildsteel is usually burning about 20-30 amps hotter than stainless to ensure great penetration and going fast I am not after the prettiest weld with it as it is just gonna be ugly 5 seconds after being on the car or 10 minutes after seeing the real world with moisture....
Trust me I know how to put out blinging welds the reason behind mild steel for 100% the people that I have ever met was to save money and in the process of saving money I cut down weld time to help them out...
Here are some blinging welds if your really want to put up a missing match

Yah and it looks like you are running cold and using a stainless rod I can do that do....
In mild steel I charge $30 an hour for work but I must sacrafice some "bling" to give people that price as opposed to stainless is minimum $60 an hour depending on how hard the job is, if I am doing work for oil companies or food industry I charge much more

Re: some cool recent fab work
well like I said in mild steel I consider it a waist of time, I concentrate on making my bead patter nice as always but color is the least of my concerns when I am welding mild steel

Re: some cool recent fab work
you wouldnt love it if you would weld hot enough it would get 100% penetration unless you purge absolutely everything you weld also
in mild steel if you use mild steel rod and weld it hot it will get perfect 100% penetration with out purging if you use stainless it will suger up really bad though
