So I made an Exhaust system

So I made an Exhaust system
Well the hatch was going to need it sooner or later so I went to the autoparts store and got some good ole' crush bent 90*s and 45* a thrush glass pack, and Thrush turbo muffler and a piece of 36" 2.5 pipe and a 15" length of 2.5 Totaled probably about $125. The flanges were left over E-gay exhaust flanges which I bored out a little to fit 2.5"
Well here it is Enjoy:
Check out my sexy mig welds:
For hangers off the muffler I used 3/8" Nails I found in my basement. I bent them in the vice and ground the heads down a little to fit into the hangers but not fall out.
And to top it all off, I had to throw in a whitey bend to get the muffler to fit nice:

Re: So I made an Exhaust system
paint your welds, they rust quick if they are left bare.
i used a ceramic cast iron gray color and it makes my magnaflow oval practically invisible and hasnt shown much of any rust at all through a few years of NE winters.

nice job man! that pipe to flange weld lookgs great. overall it gets a thumbs up. i suggest clean, primer and paint. or find a really heavy duty single stage paint.
When i made my 3" exhaust, i cleaned it and did 3-4 light coats of BBQ black. But the paint didn't hold up to a NY winter sadly.
