Its the Smiley. I rarely use the Miller. Its at my shop and is a pain to go use when I can work in my basement.

Do you think its all sealed up? I have quite a bit of vetilation. There is no smell at all even when I am welding.

Amps are amps. I can turn it up a bit more a vaporize the schedule 10. The reason people don't get good penetration is because they are concerned with the gay coloring. I guess if you back purge properly then you can get the correct penetration. I don't back purge but the welds seem very deep.

Ya, I never have problems with penetration with my smiley.

I have been thinking of modding an old pedal to vary the amps. Just determine the resistance value on the dial and bypass it tp the pedal so I can at least play with amps as I weld.

I was going to get a use Lincoln Percision, but I might be picking up a Mandrel Hydro Tube bender for a Real Kick *** price.

Hotrex is just an idiot and doesn't know you need to bevel thicker stainless steel. Stainless steel needs to be welded at a low amperage to not fatigue the material. In order to get good penetration and good color, you need to run multiple passes. Its not rocket science. Its been discussed. Infact when I saw one of his first manifolds I mentioned this and his explaination was "its ****" or something to that extent. As long as the manifold produces the necessary power to melt the material, you can get good penetration. Seeing as most are welding ss304 at sub 80A, this shouldn't be much of a challenge.
