There are certain companies in the world that provide #3 service. They are few and far between, but they do exist. An example of which would be Hytech manifolds. The guy obviously took so much pride in his design and work that he patented his anti-reversion chambers for ---- sake.

As for R&D not being needed for turbo components, what the ---- are you talking about? Running too large of a volume exhaust manifold will result in poor throttle response. Using too small of a volume exhaust manifold will result in power loss in the top end due to increased reversion. If one runner's pulses are significantly out of time it will dumb up the whole works and cause power loss. There are a ton of factors when building a good turbo manifold. A log manifold is a log manifold, and a ram horn is a ram horn, but it is possible to make something that is actually designed per application to make significantly more power than your one size fits all manifold. I'm not saying you have to spend years on the dyno to figure out what is absolutely optimal, but I don't see any companies actually going out and testing any of their theories. Its just take a few pieces of plumbing pipe, weld it together, and here you go. Selling a bunch of plumbing pipe welded together in some random way does not deserve big bucks regardless who is welding it.

If there is demand it will be copied and ripped off in China...This is the fact of life all manufacturing businesses in North America have to come to terms with. Manifolds, Art, software whatever...

That being said Mr SSAC probably realized this and went overseas to cash in. I have never used SSAC products and guess that I never will because of the bad rap on every posting site. I believe that if you were a little more concerned about the lifespan of the product you could build some very good manifolds in India or China. All these things are is a bunch of pipe sections and flanges welded together - using the right schedule and grade of pipe and welding them correctly may double the price in China but to what? - $50 each purchased in quantity? Mark them up higher than SSAC and don't go around dissing your competitors and have the ***** to tell people upfront what you are doing and I think money can be made. People are certainly doing this with other products successfully. i would far rather sub out the fabrication process that is dirty and bad for your health and focus on delivering what people want at a reasonable price.

And I know two people who have thrown away your manifolds because of poor quality and fit. One log, one ram.
