Default Rear Bumper Done (pics at bottom + bonus)

So I posted the other day my front bumper I built, and now I am working on the rear.

I don't really know where I am going with this just yet, but the plan is to keep it light and light duty, but still look good. It will have a hitch in the middle for a d-ring hook. I don't plan on doing much but tugging my stuck Jeep outta spots I get trapped in once in a while, which doesn't happen often, but you know how that goes.

This is the mount plate. It started as a 7" long strip of 3/16" HRPO and then cut down and bent to go into the frame. Then there are holes in the tab that goes into the frame, backed with threaded nuts, so it bolts from the bottom too.

So far I've bent and mounted a main hoop, here is a shot of what it looks like so far. I'm still deciding on what I wanna do past this. Ive got it up as high as I can without interfering with the hatch.

The tube hugs the body really well, 3/16" to maybe 1/4" gap. This makes me nervous for wheeling so im brainstorming a way to side to side strut the bumper so theres some resistance to bending it into the body.

That's all so far, I will update as progress is made.

JR

More progress, its starting to look like a bumper now! After I weld this up, it goes back on the Jeep so I can build a good strong tie-in to make the hitch nice n stout.

Are you planning on towing anything heavy with that? At first when I looked at the pics I thought it looked pretty gay, but the update changed my mind. It looks badass.
