If I can see that well enough, it looks as if you were pumping the trigger....on-off-on-off...
That's a pretty bad idea on something like that, which looks like a structural part. You can wind up with "fisheyes" or "open craters"...and most likely have millions of little microscopic cracks. Yeah, you may think it's splitting hairs, but there's been people die from failures that started life so small. One crack grows to meet another, into another, and before you know it, there's a big *** crack, just waiting on the time to break.

You got any closer pics of that?

Is that a Civic trailing arm?

yes that is a trailing arm and no I definitly was not pulsing it, but if you dont wait to long between pulses you can weld like that and have it as strong as a steady weld. It is a very fine line between having week spots and not. That was "stacking dimes" but since there was a overlap of steel that is what the weld ended up looking like. I acually have taken welding through trades school :P

Well, it's kinda hard to tell exactly what he did, based on that pic. I can't see the welds close enough to tell....so I wouldn't be right to do anything but take his word for it....

I never said he wasn't a great welder, all I said was its not pulsed and its not, there would be no reason to pulse that its not thin metal and its overlaped by about 3 inches welded on each end. If he can use his lazer eye to check my welds from that picture hes a better man then me. :P
