well first of all you dont powder coat your manifold. You would want to have it ceramic coated.

So my wrinkle black one has a crack where these things always crack, and was starting to leak oil in it. So I took it off and it's being stripped. But I had a spare Hyundai one laying around that I'm putting on.

Now I've been trying to figure out how to make a color to match the black cherry color of my car. They don't make a color that matches it. So I took a transparent red, and applied it over a gloss black base coat. Typically you put transparents over a white/silver/chrome base coat, and that gives it the "candy" look. On all the forms I'm on, no one had posted pics of a transparent over a gloss black base. So here are my results. This valve cover was in horrible condition. So bad I was wondering if it'd even turn out since there was so much crud just caked on it, even after 2 hours of prep. But I'll let you be the judge, I think it turned out amazing.

When looking at it in just plain lighting, and straight on, it looks just like gloss black(apparent in pic1), but once I turn on the flash, or apply direct light, you see the maroon come out. I'd say I matched the car color very well!

Did my new intake and upper intercooler pipe this weekend in smoke chrome, followed by a coat of clear coat.

Thanks, I'll take the credit for the coating, but I can't take credit for those welds

I ended up sponsoring MAPerformance's (local shop) 4G64 powered FD by doing their powder coating. Kind of a bad picture.

The crinkle finishes are great for covering imperfections & such but now your newly powder coated VC looks perminantely dirty as ----. Not my cup of tea.

Yes, the textured stuff definately helps hide imperfections! And yup some people may not like it, different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Here's something I did an hour ago:

Then I fail to see why this crap is up here? HMT is all about sharing info, not pimping pictures of your top-secret work on a pile of DSM.
