Re: Poor Man's exhaust cut-out
heres a good idea with no effort put into a diagram...
---------- l __l l C__ <------ you pull the wire up, hook the black top over this and, still retain the spring action in the TB. that way l_____l that way when you want it to close, you just slide the wire out of the whatever the ---- you want to call it |
Re: Poor Man's exhaust cut-out
^^^^ i know what you mean,,, but your diagram in no way helps you ilustrate what you are saying... ;)

Basically the friction in the cable keeps it open. It's a hard wire in the center with a metal sheathing, no teflon, plastic, etc. |
Re: Poor Man's exhaust cut-out
great idea

Re: Poor Man's exhaust cut-out
It would be neato to use your ebrake as the lever, but then you would have to not have a functional ebrake anymore

Re: Poor Man's exhaust cut-out
one can see who here does not have a clue when it comes to old school side-draught carbs with mechanical chokes,CHOKE CABLES and whatnot....
it's all fancy smancy drive by wire these days... HMT's worst nightmare... ;D the cable itself is actually a very stiff solid wire, it does not slide loosely in the sleeve, so you can pull something open with it, and then push it closed again. If it does not pull back very hard, it will stay open... almost like what gearshift cables do... actually exactly like that, just smaller. |
Re: Poor Man's exhaust cut-out
A guy that i met locally used a trailblazer Drive by wire throttle body wired to a switch (fully open/fully closed) as an exhaust cutout in a turbo cavalier, worked great until his wife drove the car in the snow with it wide open for a long time

Re: Poor Man's exhaust cut-out
How about wiring the fly by wire throttle body to a full throttle switch.
Isn't that some of the C6 vettes do it? |
