Default NOOB TIG WELDING????

OK so i bought a smiley tig and been lazy and havent bought anything else to start welding with it yet. I just need to know what kinda stuff i need to weld SCH 10 SS and Mild steel pipe.

So what size Tungsten, filler rod?

Do u guys weld with gloves on?

How often do the little pink cup things break?

Ill probably have more questions later

the pink cups dont break unless you drop them, they get drity some times if you cant weld. filler and tungsten i got 5/16 i believe, and 2% thorated tungsten, and a great tip is keep the tungsten sharp, and sharpen it with a grinding wheel that you never use with different metals.

and for gloves get thin gloves so you can move your hands better, and its a pain in the *** if you drop your filler with thick gloves,

5/16 tungsten and filler? Little big ya think.

I use 3/32" red tungsten. I also use 1/16" filler and also 0.035" filler for thinner material.

The only time I don't use gloves is when I am tacking.

Red is for Steel, Green for Aluminum. When welding steel try to keep the tip as sharp as possible, you can try and do so with the aluminum tip but it doesn't say good because it bubbles on the end.

Aluminum is supposed to be a blunt end. But Smiley doesn;t do aluminum.

I get all my supplies from this guy:
http://stores.ebay.com/Aglevtech-com-Auctions

Gas Lenses, Cups, Tungstens and so on. Very good customer service a cheap shipping. It's general speed in shipping (4-7 day to Canada) but he charges no different and no extra cost. What he pays you pay.

Wear Gloves!!! Skin cancer is not cool!!! I use lamb skin thin glove with a little bit of a liner for heat blocking, they are only 4.99 and once they are work in I were them all the time in the shop because you forget they are on.
