For building manifolds you would be better off with a stick welder.

when im welding with cheepo welders, i weld in small puddles, you dont just hold it n keep going. try to practice doing this...

(0(0(0(0(0(0(0

hold it for a few seconds to get contact n make a small puddle then let go n move down 1 milimeter. then keep going til you have a decent bead

well its like i told you it sucks manily because you suck...lol....but no it a shitty weilder and you want to turn the speed down it gets choppy so you have to run with a higher speed but other then that you just suck :S

i would recomend slowing down (your speed of movment) and running a figure 8 pattern hold the weilder at a 45degree angle to the metal and little go in little 8's

first make sure you grind/sand where ever youre welding, then , stop being scared of the welder. grab the the knob while youre welding and adjust the wirespeed till it stops popping and its just like bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. if you feel the wire pushing on the metal you're welding, the speed is too fast . either turn up the heat or turn down the wire speed.

Is this the best way to weld with a Fluxcore? My unit is only a 70amp 110v unit. And I'll be attempting to weld schedule 40 pipes. Worth the effort? Or should I just tack the peices together and take it to a machine shop for final welding?

Wink, you can weld up to 3\16" or so with 70 amps and flux core. My first welder was a 70amp job and I could weld 1\4" but I wouldn't get full penetration.

I guess it will do just fine. These schedule 40 fittings I'm using are just a hair over 1/8" thick. I may not get the perfect penetration, but beveling the joints should help alot.

Thanks,
