my idea to modify my air compressor
#11
no, it was a long time ago. i used npt/- AN fittings and used AN hoses cause i get that ---- free from work. just run a hose from the outlet of your compressor, to another tank with a "T" on top. then run your air line from that "T" also

T an auxillary tank (like a 5-9-15 gallon spare tire tank) to your compressor and whatever you're trying to run. You'll empty the aux tank & main tank but beware. when the main tank goes you should let both tanks refill and take note of the duty cycle your compressor can run!
i used a couple feet of spare hose & some harbor frieght fittings.

done this plenty of times..the last one i did had a 20 gal tank and i added a 30 gal to it...i ran a threaded pipe from the 20 gal to a check valve to the 30 gal and then the out inlet i put a quick release on it... the check valve saved the motor from the air forcing back in to the first tankworked great

The way I look at it is, Let's say your pump puts out 8 SCFM. and you double your cubic feet capacity, When you connect another tank up basically when the pressure gets low enough to kick your compressor on now it has to run twice as long to make up the volume loss. So your using an impact gun on your non modified compressor that is full, you run it until the motor kicks on and it takes 10 minutes to recover, now with double the cabacity tank it will take 20 minutes to recover. Just my $2c
