looks pretty damn solid 8). but if you can, try crankin' the heat up a little and the wire speed up a little bit too; should smooth out them welds and penatrate more consistantly.

Unfortunately, the welder I own is the lowest of the low, as far as features. It only has two settings, High/low. And the wire feed is adjusted automatically. Some day I plan on getting a much better unit. But for now, the welds should hold for long enough to get a decent baseline for the setup. Once everything is completed and running, I'll start production on a stainless steel setup. And seriously considering getting a TIG for my next unit anyway.

True, but I definately need a more powerfull unit.

Lately I've been looking into SS flux-core wire for mig. I've found a few places online that sell spools at decent prices, but you have to buy a minimum order of 25 spools to get it at that price. And I've also seen it at McMaster-Carr. But thier price is outrageous for a 1 lb spool. $79, forget that. And a 5 lb spool is a whopping $180. Oh hell no!!!!!

And the most funny thing I'm starting to notice is that mild steel fittings are almost twice as expensive as the same units in SS. What gives?

Well, the rear manifold is a no go. I have serious fittiment issues with it in the car. It sits the turbo too far back and is interferring with the firewall. If I only had another 1-1.5" of extra clearance. Oh well, I tried. And now it's time for a different manifold design to maybe gain the needed clearance to fit the turbo on the rear of the motor. So far I've gone as far as cutting some fittings and laying them out on a flange. I'll update everyone on the progress. As for now, take a look at the beginnings of the new rear manifold.

Looks like I'll have to "Whitey bend" the manifold's outlet, so I can snug up the turbo closer to the vlave cover. I also moved the outlet more towards the transmission side of the motor, so I can angle the turbo more than the fist manifold did. That way I can get it much closer to the valve cover, without hitting the wastegate actuator against the valve cover. This "should" give me the 1-1.5" needed to fit in the car. Not to mention, it should also reduce the turbulence of the exhaust within the manifold by having all three ports flowing in one single direction, instead of the two outer ports converging into the center, like the old one was.
