Motor Mount Fab

I made this at work today. I work in a polyurethane/machine shop. I plan on getting it filled with urethane soon. Check it out.

Re: Motor Mount Fab

i had hasports on my Eg hatch and the vibration was nuts compared to stock. And they were the 62A durometer. I'd make a set if i knew someone would buy them .

Here is the link: https://www.homemadeturbo.com/tech_p...nts/index.html

This will help with wheel hop. It helped so much for me that with a good no slipping clutch and azenis rt-615 tires for grip that I just break cv-axles. 1-2 cv-axles per year on N/A setup.

With my S/C on the d16z6 I just have instant wheel spin and understeer.

swaping motors today, and dont have race mouts for a Dseries, so i will be putting the window weld mout info to good use... Thanks for the link,,

Re: Motor Mount Fab

I work in a polyurethane shop. They will be filled with solid urethane not those cheesy inserts. probably around 60-70 "A" durometer. I just did a little redesign on the bracket to the motor to make them a little lighter.

as follows

And the rear

I still need to work up the passenger side tranny mount though.

I'm waiting on flanges from my local laser shop. They are hella slow. Probably within a week i'd say.

cool I was thinking of have my foundry shop make som solid and semi-solid mount for me not sure yet.

silentdaredevil2 10-09-2008 07:34 PM

Re: Motor Mount Fab

well this set will be EG w/b-series and also i think you can use them on DC as well. If im not mistaken they are the same, as long as you have a 3 bolt driver side mount.

Looks killer! Must be nice all that poly around! Try to keep your welds from being uneven. Same amount on both work pieces.

it will be prime don't worry

big pimpin i like the big machined block too.

yeah it looks a little nicer but its heavy as ----.

Re: Motor Mount Fab

Looks like the early welded HASports. The design has too much poly in it, it will start to squeeze out especially on the driver's side.

Don't make the part you fill so big, IMO. You'll use less material, weigh less, and so what if it vibrates a little these cars are 10+ years old and nice ones are getting rare.

Which was copied from place racing. I still have an old set of bolt in place 88-91 mounts. Classic

Never knew that. I just knew Place always had a rep for being shady. Meh.

Hasport started of using place racing swap parts. Took that and actually ran a business correctly. Gil was way ahead of his time but was greedy. He worked with me on my stuff but he treated 99 percent of customers like ---- hence why he isnt around anymore. He sells pipe fittings etc on ebay now

No offense but you obviously don't know how the process of making polyurethane works. It will be bonded inside the tube welded to the bracket. trust me it will never come out. The only way is if you were to break the bond, which is done one of two ways. Either apply alot of heat to it to reverse the primer, or soak it in MEK (AKA methyl ethyl ketone) which over time will eat the poly. As far as adding weight goes, the poly bonded inside will way less then the entire motor mount itself so thats not an issue. Ive been working with polyurthane for about 5 years now, so i know what im doing.

Also there are wide variety of durometers of polyurethane, ranging from 20A all the way to 60D which is like cement.

Re: Motor Mount Fab

in to see the results. i have some plans of making my own mounts, but i will have to use inserts. i do have access to some badass glue that should hold them in though

silentdaredevil2 10-12-2008 11:53 AM

Re: Motor Mount Fab

I believe that is what hasport and all these other companies do. they make inserts and then glue them in. IMO this is a cheap way to accomplish having poly mounts. Don't get me wrong I'm not discrediting any of these companies they make amazing mounts, but like I said its just my opinion.

Scott-EP 10-12-2008 12:45 PM

Re: Motor Mount Fab

i think your way is better, but i just dont have that option. i wish i did, but i think gluing them in will work for my plans. glue is a very general term. this stuff i will be using is so much more

silentdaredevil2 10-12-2008 06:56 PM

Re: Motor Mount Fab

you can actually buy polyurethane adhesive through a place like mcmaster. Pretty good stuff

silentdaredevil2 10-17-2008 03:58 PM

Re: Motor Mount Fab

well i got the passenger side done. I want to get them all finished before I get the poly done
