Manifolds I made
Well...I don't hink I've been on this board or posted here since 2003. It's come a long way since then. I really like this section as well...fabrication and **** go well together. Anyways heres a few things I made and I wanted to show off.
Here's my first ever attempt at a header. This is on my nissan 280zxt.
This the intake manifold I made for my car
you can't see it in the pics, but I used a mill to cut out the flange and stuff and then cut a radius for each runner so it has velocity stacks in the plenum. It worked out pretty slick and then powder coated it. All the z car guys liked it quite a bit so Ive been making them for a few guys here and there, as well as a few other cars. Anyways, just wanted to show off my stuff a little bit...
Oh, one last one, I made a guage pod the other day. I've worked with fiberglass quite a bit before (manage a kenworth truck bodyshop) but never built anything before. So I played around a little bit and built this pod. It didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, but looks and works good enough for now. It gave some place for my gauges and boost controller.

I haven't taken any "super" current pics of the engine bay, but heres one at the begining of this year. It has a different intake on it (other than the one pictured above) and everything else is the same (that you can see in the picture.) I tore it down this summer and did some port work to the head, new cam and springs and finally got the car to wake up. It ran a 12.08 @125mph in the 1/4 on street tires and is far from being tuned. My a/f was somewhere areound 10.8:1 and its set up pretty conservative on timing as well. I'm running around 26psi right now and will bring it to 30 once I can get some better tuning done on it. It costs way too much money to sit on a dyno and play around so I've gotta save up! Anyways, here's a pic of the engine bay, and one of me doing a burnout

awesome but intake in front of the ic is not necessary... thats what the intercooler is for. no sense in pulling cold air from the front to be re-heated by the hot turbo then its gonna get cooled by the intercooler anyway but prolly not with ur filter blocking it? other then that awesome dude lol

Actually, not to make this a technical post, but you are wrong about the placement of the filter not needing to be in cool air vs. hot underhood temps. A compressor on a turbo will heat the air up. That much is true. But it only heats it up a certain amount. Lets say you've got 180 degree underhood temps, and the turbo adds 250 degrees to that bring it to 430. If you have 70 degree air come into your turbo, it will not heat up to the same 430 degrees. It may not be a 110 degree difference, but there is a significant difference. Then you factor in that an air to air intercooler is not 100% effecient. Figure 80-85% is doing pretty damn good. If you start out with a cooler charage going into the intercooler, you'll end up with a cooler charge coming out. It's simple math. Also, the air filter actually is only blocking the IC end take as it's hard to see in that picture. I've logged temps before and after intercooler and actually moved my air filter to the engine compartment to prove this to a guy in the past. Every degree counts when your talking about intake air temps. The cooler the air, the more dense the charge, and the more power you can make on the same amount of air injested into the engine. Many people have debated this, but I've seen very few that do anything other than bench race on this topic. I've logged temps and done comparisons. Anyways...enough about that...
