I don;t know ---- bout lectricity, I wired my 220 v welder. no fires, no blown breakers, and I didn't even get zapped once.

It's actully two legs of 110 feeding to a neutral.

I would recommend a seperate 30 amp two pole breaker and 10/3 wire. Run the wire through the existing conduit inside.

Black/Red to the two poles on the breaker. White wire to the neutral, copper wire to the ground. Kill the power before you install.

It's a PITA to turn the A/C off before you weld, and piggybacking off of the same breaker is against code.

i guess going through the existing conduit is against code too (because its pre-main breaker?) i did a new 3/4 pvc conduit for my four 10g wires - code is 4 wires now i guess even if you have a 3 prong welder plug. ------ code

220v... is really 208v, which uses 2 120v making it 2 pole single phase. There's no neutral carried through, just 2 hots and a ground to the building. 3 phase 208 is only seen in commercial kitchens and ----, like the big Henny Penny's in a Chickfila.

Correct me if I'm wrong or if you have 3 phase in your house, which would be weird.

got it done for $60 at home depot, with conduit breaker receptical and all that ----. the fire dep only came once cause there was so much smoke from fat welds and burnouts O0
