I've done several shits on flux core... well, that is all I have. I even do all my DP and DT with it.... except I have a Lincoln Flux and I have that set on high-6/7. Believe it or not, I've never had that failed/cracked so far. I must have done at least 30 DP/DT with it....

Re: how possible is it to weld my own exhaust with...
I've been forced to weld trailer jacks with a weldpak 3200 (100amp? fluxcore), I dual-pass it just to be safe. So far they've held well over 2000lbs of mini-skidsteer bouncing around the trailer. I've also done ~18ga stainless with it when BBQ gas grills came with the front handles broken. To give you an idea, they recommend a feed of '2' for fluxcore on the same thickness steel the MIG wire needs a '5' for. It just seems to burn hotter.
FYI - clean it well before welding, and ALWAYS scrape as much slag off the weld if you have to go over an existing weld. |

I've welded 16 gauge pipe onto a muffler body on my crap box paddock basher with an arc welder before.
Used 2.5 mm electrodes and F'all current. Yes it looked shite... Did it leak - Aboslutely Did I care - No :P |
