how to build a 4-1 collector(hp-style)
Me and my bro are working on my new mani.
just wanna share it with you guys.
for now i have pics of the collector that we did a few days ago. this is all home made ---- and done in our garage.
Step 1:
cut the sched 40 pipes in 1' lengths and placed it in the band saw.
step 2:
after the the blade goes through turn the pipe 90' to make another cut. repeat 4x
( oh ---- no pics.) sorrrrrry
step 3:
join 2 pcs of the cut pipe.
my bro workin on the tig
you should have something like this after
welded the joints inside out for maximum strength (black arrows)
step 4:
if you measured the 90' cuts well you shoudnt have any problem joining the 2 halves of the collector.
if you have a gap on the middle. you can use the chop saw to level both surfaces.
spot them togeteher until no gaps the weld together.
last step is to cut the bottom with a chop saw.
il post the rest of the ram horn build if dont get toooo lazy in the following days.
hope this helps the noobs

Re: how to build a 4-1 collector(hp-style)
you wasted a shitload of pipe right there. 1 foot length is crazy.
you should be able to start with a 5 inch piece and cut it where youll not even need to cut anything afterward with a chopsaw. youll cut 6 inches or more off that collector before its even wide enough to fit the t3 flange.
thats 24 inches of wasted pipe. 24 inches of pipe is another whole collector if done right.
noobs, pay no attention to this post.
also, when you welded the inside of the collector, you only welded 2 of the 4 sides. so you might as well have not welded any of them.
maybe tomorrow ill make a how to make a real collector on a bandsaw post.
