MSDS's are awesome. Lets you make your own ----.
purple power =
Ethylene Glycol Butyl Ether 5-10%
Potassium Hydroxide 1-5%
Dipotasium EDTA 1-5%
Nonionic Surfactant Proprietary 1-5%

Lye = sodium hydroxide

The painting department at lowes or HD is your friend.
Try a 5-10% solution of Acetone. Better have that bitch sealed vapor tight too.
If that wont get it go all out and start adding stuff with keytone's and benzene's
More acetone, denatured alcohol, zylene's, tolulene's.
GOOOOOD STUFF!
Its in your best intrest to mind the plastic and rubbers. hehehe

I always keep a big spray-bottle of 50% water 25/25 acetone denatured alcohol laying around. Let it sit on an oily part maybe 20 seconds, wipe with a shop towel. That acetone nukes the oil right off of it.

oh wear gloves. It's all highly caustic and the state of california will san francisco ---- rape you with cancer

Potassium hydroxide is also considered lye. It's commonly called potash lye.

Throw a big aluminum block in some hot water with potassium hydroxide, leave it outside for a few hours them come back and look at it. You'll be surprised with the results. Potassium hydroxide will dissolve aluminum, as will sodium hydroxide.

Yeah. You'd come outside to a big tub of blackened water that used to be your engine.

Use non caustic solvents.

Google is showing there are alkaline compounds specifically made for hot tanking aluminum. They all seem quite expensive, though.

Yeah, I was going to say not to let aluminum parts soak in purple power for too long. I did that with a valve cover and it ate the hell out of it.

It was a couple of days though.

I use that oil eater ---- works great. Dont use on a warm or hot aluminum though it will destroy it. Go get a case of brake clean and put in work
